  1. It was explained earlier in the thread that the bounding boxes are a debug tool. They looked cool, so they were left available for those parties interested. I would like to see a safety override check box, to force a dock from the current position within the safe zone. Would save a lot of time and mono.
  2. Thats the idea...it adjusts the center of thrust to align with the center of mass. So, if your probe is slightly out of balance, it should trim the engine to correct for the imbalance. I would suggest two things: ensure your center of thrust is aft of the center of mass, and setting max trim to a low number, 1-5 degrees, or you may end up with the neat trick I described above (at least until the next version comes out)
  3. Awsome Sarbian! I can live without the auto gimbal for a few days, but I'm sure I'll need it once I reach this 'Roid I'm chasing
  4. trying dropbox for the first time, hope this works...damn, that file is 7.6 meg... Craft is called "Grabber 1", and yes, i know I made a few errors (forgot to add enough Mono to Grabber 1, so had to send Grabber 2 to upgrade), otherwise I would not have had so many engines. Next iteration will be cleaner. My symmetry should be ok though...no extra fuel tanks show in TAC Fuel Balancer. https://www.dropbox.com/s/itiz46x7b494hdo/persistent.sfs Grabber 1 (Ship core) https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ixhe6hxtcqvykn/Grabber%201.craft Grabber 2 (Aft Engine Pod) https://www.dropbox.com/s/aib6v0yrxkfzjzu/Grabber%202.craft
  5. Ok, I have a problem, Auto Gimbal must think my CoM is outside the ship. the ship operates normal without the plugin enabled, and autotrim is WAY out of calibration when enabled. any known fixes? (this ship was assembled in orbit, so I don't have a single craft file) Auto Gimbal NOT engaged: Auto Gimbal engaged:
  6. Perfect! That means there is no functional difference for tractor or pusher configurations. i can keep my Asteroid Tug en route to my first capture Sarbian, you are DA MAN!
  7. Trying to wrap my head around the mechanics. OP sates: When activated on one or more engines they will orient themselves so the Direction of Thrust stays aligned with the Center of Mass. (Sarbian 1) Does this mean the individual engine's thrust vector, or the ship's combined thrust? This could be important when designing a puller-type Nuclear Asteroid Tug...my fuel tanks are aft of the engines, so CoM is also aft of the engines. Once I'm locked onto the asteroid, I expect the function should be "normal" due to CoM shift. Please elaborate the mechanics as if you were talking to a slow 5-year old (extra points for MS Paint drawings) Thanks!!
  8. That did the trick. Took me a while to figure it out (deleted all my mods on accident, had to rebuild config files, etc etc) but once I got it working, it was just what I needed. Then I discovered the part that was missing was a custom kethane scanner I had hacked togeather..so.....yea. But otherwise, it all worked out
  9. Over the last few months, I have added and removed a variety of mods. Of course, this means I have several craft files that are inaccessible in the VAB due to "invalid parts". Is there a way to identify those parts, and then remove them (automatically or manually) from the craft files, allowing the craft to be accessible again? I've attempted to search using "invalid part", and came up with nothing useful.
  10. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou
  11. FRAG NABBIT! Sorry, missed the details in the awesomeness. So is this the correct usage? @PART[*]:HAS[@MODULE[ModuleGimbal]] { @MODULE[ModuleGimbal] { @name = ModuleGimbalAutoTrim gimbalAutoTrim = true trimLimit = 45 } }
  12. In order to simplify my life, is there a MM code that I can place in my config to automatically enable the gimbal function on applicable engines? Autotrim = true or something? what would the proper format be?
  13. Ok, so here is my question: I use the Guppy series of space tug, which usually have their engines mounted at a slight outward angle. This mod will auto gimbal the engine to thrust straight thru the COM, so I would still have sine losses, right? Awesome mod Sarbian
  14. Feature creep request: When using the Ascent Module for "launch to rendezvous", could the "desired orbit" and "inclination" text input boxes be auto-updated to match the target info? The current mechanics appear to have the craft ascend to just the altitude listed, then disables the ascent module. (just confirmed that behavior, if the altitude box has a lower orbit than target, set altitude overides rendezvous input) Fixing this should allow "direct to rendezvous" type of launches. (unless I am just ignorant on how to do that with mechjeb). Also, a hash mark on the "edit ascent path" indicating current position along ascent curve (or relative altitude on curve) during ascent would be a great indicator if changing the curve during ascent. As always, LOVE MechJeb!
  15. Is there any documentation on the Attitude Adjustment window? I'd like to know more about what it's useful for, and how to optimize available options.
  16. Yes, I'd love to have something like a horizon sensor that allows a "roll to horizon" type attitude adjustment in the options. I do realize that in space, horizon doesn't matter, and several of the modules have the ability to adjust the roll, but I have a bit of OCD, and like my craft to be "upright" if possible. The landing module is a prime example. It does a great job, but it feels weird to be in a braking maneuver with the cockpit oriented upside down from "normal".
  17. have you updated your kethane pack? what problem are you having?
  18. After reinstalling Mechjeb, toolbar, module manager, and a little cussing, it finally worked. i believe it was a toolbar issue, as now I have the full Optional Mechjeb buttons enabled, works great (Thanks Sarbian!)
  19. Should have said sidebar, sorry...the sidebar is missing. After updating everything I can think of, still no dice. Confused and irritated.
  20. I've "lost" my mechjeb dropdown menu in flight mode. It worked this morning, but then I haz teh dumb and tried to update Bil9000 mechjeb parts to match the current Mechjeb part.cfg, but I failed. I'm going to try to delete the individual ship configs, but if anyone has any ideas, PLEASE chime in!
  21. The part.cfg doesn't seem to match mechjeb's part.cfg. Any chance of an update to fit the updated mechjeb parameters? I tried to do it myself, but I broke it, had to reinstall
  22. I'm having problems with the docking autopilot as well...the RCS behaves very oddly, like it was reversed on some axis or something. Normal RCS works fine, but the MechJeb does not seem able to control the ship properly any more. Any ideas? RCS is properly located, controlling from correct port, all that is good. Just can't dock anymore
  23. Nice! This would be cool as a drive core for an interplanetary longship
  24. Some of the new parts show properly, but I can't find the Claw in the tree. Any way to quickfix that myself?
  25. wow...disabling the "rear" wheels...its so obvious, it escaped my notice..that will help so much, serious +1 for that!
