  1. I defiantly gained a new appreciation for patched conics and SAS. With the 1st tier VAB I couldn't make a piloted Mun lander, so I made an automated one with the Stayputnik. I had to judge the intercept from experience, and landing without SAS was quite the challenge with only engine gimbling for control. I managed to pull it off, but just barely. I had 7 units of liquid fuel left and nearly fell over on landing. Also... It seems to have been a one time thing. I quit the game and when I came back it had been reduced to something more reasonable. I found it unusual because when I played with the mod none of them ever went too far past the Mun.
  2. I would vote no because I haven't gotten any level 5's yet, but I'm sure I'll manage to make my answer a "yes" soon.
  3. Loving absolutely everything about the update, but is it normal for satellite deployment missions (early in the game) to have apoapsis higher than Minmus?
  4. ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd ermehgerd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. North America - US - Texas Also, this:
  6. A made a (kind of) mistake of starting a modded career save about a week ago. It also has an extended tech tree with NFT. I'm hoping to finish it before the update. Edit: After posting this, I realized that I forgot to install the custom tech tree, so I had to start over. 90,000 science to complete.... wish me luck.
  7. So, yesterday, got up at 5 in the morning to watch a rocket sit on the pad for a few hours. Today, got up at 5 in the morning again. " 10, 9, 8, 7..." It's happening! " 6, 5, 4 *stream dies* Oh well, I'm glad to hear the test went well. And all those pictures from orbit were gorgeous! I can't wait to see where the program goes.
  8. When I voted on this poll I was using "stock sloppydynamics", but since then I have converted to using FAR. I love the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) level of realism it adds to the game.
  9. I managed to find a way to get a few hundred tonnes of fuel into orbit without the use of a ridiculously sized asparagus launcher . However, even with launch clamps it manages to do this.
  10. I found it through Kurtjmac's series.
  11. Ever since I learned how to assemble my unnecessarily large craft in orbit, I haven't used it that often. I typically use a central LF stage and however many SRB's are needed. Every once in a while I'll strap a few LF boosters on, but that's it. I recently tried launching 190 tonnes of fuel into orbit, and I had no choice but to use asparagus. It took me at least 20 tries to get that thing into orbit.
  12. Send a kerbal somewhere other than the Mun, Minmus, Duna, Ike, or Gilly
  13. When you tell your friends about all your missions last night, even though they don't care about it.
  14. It takes a bit of work, but I was able to get it to orbit with a pretty good amount of fuel left, at one point I had to change the thrust limiters on the radial LFO engines to 100.
  15. I'd say I'm a four. I use spaceplanes for crew transfers and small payloads, and I use minimalist rockets for larger ones. In career mode I always set myself a budget for my missions. (ex. If my total rewards for a contract is 150,000, I'll try and keep the launch price below 75,000) If possible I return my second stage, but I don't always make it a priority. My standard Duna lander consists of 1 standard command pod, 1 half sized 2m tank, 1 poodle engine, 3 lander legs, a few solar panesl, and whatever science I need. The whole thing is returned.
  16. 1: :D :D :D 2: Almost all of the parts are duplicated. Has anyone else gotten this? Is there a way to fix it? It isn't game breaking it's just REALLY annoying.
  17. Q: Have you ever achieved a stable orbit around Kerbin? Yes Q: Have you ever landed and returned from the Mun? Yes Q: Have you ever landed and returned from Minmus? Yes Q: On how many objects outside the Kerbin system(which includes Kerbin, the Mun and Minmus) have you landed on(doesn't have to be a return mission) 6, Laythe, Dres, Ike, Duna, Gilly, Eve Q: Have you ever successfully docked? Yes Q: Have you ever intercepted an asteroid? Yes Optional question 1(if you use mods): How many of the following difficulty enhancing mods: TAC life support, Remote Tech, Deadly Reentry, FAR, RSS; have you used at the same time in a save? TAC and Remote Tech (I have used DRE, just not in the same save) Q: On which of the following objects outside the Kerbin system have you done successful return missions Duna, Ike, and Gilly Total 2-4 Wow, really? Huh. I have had multiple trips around the Kerbol system planned, I just haven't had the time to do them. I'm confident I can though.
  18. In terms of speed and efficiency, you want turbojets at a high altitude. The exact height depends on your ratio of intakes:engines, but ~12k to ~25k is generally good. There probably is an exact mathematical formula for it, but I don't bother. Just experiment with different planes and altitudes and see what works best. I'm sorry this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I hope it helps.

    Hi

I'm kind of the same way too, swinging between games. But it's still mostly KSP. Anyways... Welcome to the forums!
  20. Thanks for the replies, guys. I look forward to joining you guys!
  21. I'm not really new to the game (since .20) or the forums, however, I don't feel as though I've been as helpful or productive as I could be. I spend a lot of time reading through the threads, but I never contribute to them. Any tips I should know? Thanks, Loligoat
  22. Finished up my stock .24 career save then downloaded ALL the mods. Did a few standard first missions, then set up a communication array. Did a few Mun missions and a Minmus mission. Currently planning first Duna Mission and a Kethane station around the Mun.
  23. Well it isn't THE 9R, it's an experimental version of it. But still, I hope they figure out what went wrong.
