  1. Oh, sorry. I'm having trouble seeing the picture clearly.
  2. I'm looking at the stats of both and the only difference is the weight. Same drag, ect. Are there hidden stats?
  3. "Contains locked or invalid parts".. Darn.. Oh well, thanks anyway.
  4. Maybe I'm mistaken but wouldn't the Rapier's drain the fuel much more quickly? They also weigh more.
  5. Well done. I would alter it quite a bit for even more efficiency. I'd get rid of the girders for one thing. TT-38K Radial Decouplers weigh much less than girders. I'd also use the Mk2-R radial parachutes on top of the tanks. All around same stats as the chutes you used but weigh less. It's hard to see the details; would you consider offering the file, please?
  6. I use the grabber to de-orbit spent tanks (the ones I didn't bother attaching probe cores to). I absolutely love it for that type of thing. Just going in and deleting them seems so unrealistic..
  7. I've pretty much mastered docking after a few tries, including launch approach. The game could seriously use a docking camera, however. I think people take the "I'll just wing it" approach, making it far more difficult than it has to be. I avoid it if possible, though. Tired of dealing with the low frame rates. My recent playthroughs have been highly focused on interplanetary ships that don't need docking. Making for some massive builds in the end.
  8. I once used RCS as an engine replacement. Ran out of fuel on the way back to Kerbin and held "H" down for quite a while. I had refused to use infinite fuel. If I could figure out a way for a Kerbonaut to push, I would have done that if needed.
  9. My first experience with MechJeb was absolutely awful. I think there had just been a KSP update or something because that mod did everything wrong. It tried to dive for Kerbin's surface during a Munar transfer. It nose-dived for Minmus' surface when trying to execute a landing maneuver. It spun my ship in circles for over 30 minutes while trying to rendez-vous. Just anything and everything that could go wrong. I was quite peeved.. But, now it works wonderfully.
  10. Why can't our games look as good as that first video? Man, I'm going to be very old before I see such beauty... How I wish Cryogenics was widely available.. I'd jump a hundred years. Sorry, off-topic rant. /sigh I really hope we're done with the moon (manned missions, anyway)... Probe drops and unmanned missions to study it, sure. But, manned missions seem like a wast of time to me.
  11. Trying to do an EVA report early on in my KSP career and Jeb fell off from around 800 meters. He bounced several times and I thought to myself, "He just might live!" only to watch him explode as his bouncing slowed. Made no sense to me and caught me off guard. Made me laugh like a tool. lol
  12. If you want an easy time with Eve then build a fairly small and simple SSTO VTOL (There are a few tutorials). Attach that to a lifter stage on Kerbin (balance takes practice). Once in orbit around kerbin, dock with a fueling station if needed. Make sure you have a fueling station in orbit around Eve. ????? Profit. The smaller the SSTO VTOL, the better. I haven't bothered making a single space plane since I learned how to produce VTOL. Standard SSTO planes seem like a complete waste of time to me. They're fun for RP'ing, but otherwise I avoid them.
  13. Built this today and I have to say, I've fallen in love. It has done everything I've needed it to AND returned to Kerbin after each task. No refueling, no docking, no hassle. 422 parts (I could easily reduce that to 390). I even strapped on more unneeded boosters (and RCS thruster's) just for fun (and to get a small amount more fuel efficiency (something it doesn't even need)). http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j350/jas1126/KSPShip_zps19bfecce.png' alt='KSPShip_zps19bfecce.png'>
  14. Most of us use MechJeb because we've "been there and done that" hundreds of times. I use it for missions in which I know for a fact that the ship is perfect for the job (I.E. already done the mission manually on a previous save). When I want to experiment and try new and/or crazy things then I don't touch the mod.
  15. I was doing a low Sun orbit when I first purchased the game and ran out of fuel before getting back to Kerbin. *cough*Turned on infinite fuel*cough*
  16. I had made my first trip to Eve (that was to be returned from) because everyone was making a big deal out of it. The lander was doing alright until it skipped onto the terrain just a little too hard. This destroyed one of the engines (out of four on that stage) but the tank remained. I spent a good hour testing fuel levels and the removal of side RCS tanks. Eventually I made it balanced enough to get off of the surface. Docked with my orbiter and limped home. Thankfully, I was able to pull it off but only due to perseverance. I could have easily reloaded but I really wouldn't have had as much fun. I strongly suggest that people use the Autosave less frequently. You'd be surprised just how much the game changes.
  17. This has been an issue since the internet began. People's egos will not allow them NOT to spew their opinions; even if not asked. Much like this post. And throughout time, people like you fight fruitlessly to put a stop to it. Give it up, my friend. As long as the human ego exists there will always be people willing to spout their opinions about pizza in a thread dealing with Honda's, for instance.
  18. Like others, I tend to bring extra fuel for landing. By the time I'm actually in the atmosphere, my speed is below 500 m/s. I'm always looking for ways to spice up the game. Sometimes I'll land on Kerbin without bothering with parachutes for the extra challenge.
  19. MK-1 Lander Can is my personal favorite. It allows for decent lander designs and I can place most of my science needs on it without any hassle.
  20. I love KSP as a concept but, I have to be honest.. I'm really disappointed. These ludicrous limitations are not only disheartening, they're infuriating. Here I am sitting on a powerful computer and if I get two medium sized ships in the same area then my PC struggles. I feel like I can never truly enjoy this game. And that is a miserable feeling as I really do enjoy the game's concepts. I have so many ideas that are constantly stopped due to this engine. When Unity updates, I really hope this team puts forth a significant effort to upgrade.
  21. I hope they don't remove it until they fix the problems with assembly. Countless times I've had to activate it just to do completely logical placements.
  22. SofusRud, you're presenting quite a few significant variables. As opposed to a simple VTOL which only requires balance and timing.
  23. I strongly suggest to anyone interested that they learn how to build VTOL's. I have never bothered with a runway based plane because they're not reliable in taking off and/or landing on an atmospheric planet (in my experience). Terrain tends to be unforgiving and unpredictable.
  24. I don't mean to belittle the modder's efforts (as I truly appreciate them) but, really, none of these provided "Hard Mode". Just added to part count after learning about them. True "Hard-Mode" would have to entail unpredictability. Such as atmospheric changes (sudden wind, weather, ect.). Or, meteorites coming out of nowhere and smashing parts of our ships. Or, random system failings. Without unpredictability we're just learning how to use new parts; eventually going back to square one in difficulty. Again, I'm not here to belittle the mod creators or their creations as they do add to the game. I'm merely expressing my opinion on the matter.
