Time Warp possibility?

Wouldn't that be irrelevant in space? -
Time Warp possibility?
Jas1126 replied to Jas1126's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Surely they could program exceptions to take care of the exploits. "Arms getting really tired" could simply be relieved by a cable attachment. Again, only functional whilst in space (negated upon entering a planet or moon at a certain altitude). Exceptions are the spice of life to a programmer. To not take advantage of them is sheer laziness or due to time constraints. -
Last I heard, he's immortal. Reappears in the Astronaut Complex. This may have been changed though. I can imagine that his show of fear is due to the impact before death being considerably painful. XD

Time Warp possibility?
Jas1126 replied to Jas1126's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Exploits? I can't think of any whilst in low orbit; aside from convenience. My beef is that it's tedious and unneeded to have to constantly reenter the pod just to do a quick time warp. There's no significant opposing force while in space. I honestly cannot see a reason not to allow for it. -
I am currently orbiting a body and gathering near space reports. Problem is, I'm forced to constantly go back into the pod for every time warp. Would it be possible to allow for time warp in space while my astronaut is on the ladder? Or, is there some technical issue? Thanks for reading.

Well, Gliese 581c (a second, albeit larger, Earth-like planet) was discovered in the Libra constellation and is part of the Milky Way Galaxy (our galaxy). Hmm... Perhaps we're being prepared to meet actual Kerbinite's (A man can dream, can't he?)! Still, Kerbinite's wouldn't know this so I suppose they'd come up with another name. Hmm.. The Big Splash. The White Spin.

Hello, I've just recently discovered KSP-TV and the locked thread has the times. My question is; when I select PST, do the times on the calendar change? The current schedule says "Mon, April 21, 10pm – Tue, April 22, 1am". I went to KSP-TV out of sheer curiosity and noticed that Lobster is playing right now. Is that the scheduled show or just him messing around? Very confused by all of this. Getting too old for these things, I guess. XD

Wholeheartedly agree with both. Never understood why the stages aren't shown. I think the navigational ball used to pop up normally but was changed for some reason. Just a minor tip: Pressing the decimal key on the number pad brings up the ball. For those that don't know; there's a mod that gives the Kerbin's parachutes; making this idea a sound one if you realize the issue whilst in flight. So, make it a late stage optional stock part. Much like mech-Jeb. After a hundred docking's (or so) it's just busy work at this point. The feeling of accomplishment diminishes after a certain point. I'm sure others would agree.
-
Sometimes when I place struts, the end (connecting point) disappears inside of a tank. They connect just fine with other objects but when I want to move them I'm forced to zoom inside of the tank and hope that I grab the strut properly. Also, are they planning on implementing a docking computer? NASA and the like are aware that this is a need. So, why has this basic concept been neglected for so long? I'm aware that Mech-Jeb exists but I'd rather play my game with as little mods as possible. That and Mech-Jeb is far from usable. It may get the job done but only at exorbitant cost to RCS.
-
And they tell me that certain mods reduce realism. lol Just look at how realistic that plane is! Nice work. This must have taken patience to deal with.

It wasn't exactly difficult when I can just run the game in the background with time warp enabled and the fastest ship in the game. XD Actually, the hardest part was just getting to Sol. The pirates are relentless.

I was able to get into a stable orbit on my second launch after buying the game. It was in Sandbox Mode, however.. And it probably helped that I've been a NASA follower for years. I reached space on the first launch and had to make a few corrections with struts as it was a wobbling, fuel guzzling fight to space.
-
I played sandbox when I first purchased the game but found it lacking. I enjoy the challenge of needing science (and soon, currency). I felt as though everything I was accomplishing in sandbox was, well, not an accomplishment. Sure, I achieved the goal but it felt empty to me.

I started playing Kerbal Space Program simply because I can land on planets. Ever since I started playing games that dealt with space (since the early 90's) I've always looked at the planets and wished that I could land on them. I've crashed (or attempted to) into every planet that a space game would put in front of me. Just to see if I could interact with it in some way. My favorite was when I phased right through Earth in X:3 Albion Prelude. Turns out Earth is hollow; who knew!? This game finally answered my decades long wish.

I swear that I'm not bragging here. I'm just confused. I rarely have my ships blow up, even when they're new designs. Maybe it's because I'm OCD about putting struts everywhere? Take the launcher stage of a basic payload craft, for instance. I have 6 Orange tanks surrounding my middle orange tank. On those six outer tanks I place struts on the top, bottom and inner sections of the top and bottom; those inner struts connect to the center tank. Totaling 24 struts just to hold those tanks on. On the lander portion of this same ship I connect struts from the lander's tanks to the middle orange tank. I place struts on the lander tanks to one another and inner struts on those tanks connecting it to the center of the lander. Most likely overkill but maybe that's why I have so few failures? I'm genuinely confused by everyone having so many problems.

Just thought of another one. Losing Kerbin's (Kerbal's?) due to BSOD. Reloading doesn't recover them... The Kraken has taken many lives.
-
I think this game is giving me a complex. Every time I view a picture here or watch a Youtube video I have an almost overwhelming urge to try and rotate the screen to get a better view of the ships. lol Interactive pictures and videos: The future of the internet?
-
I'm extremely claustrophobic so there's no way I could handle the missions... How I would love to see those planets in real life though..

I made a personal goal today with my free time and completed the tech tree of a fresh career mode, never leaving the Kerbin system. All within 6 hours (with a few breaks). What gets me is that even though I completed the tech tree within the Kerbin system, I know from personal experience that there's at least enough remaining science in the area to fill another half of the tree (if not more) if done properly.
-
I'm assuming the game will be balanced eventually, but knowing that I can complete the tech tree without ever leaving the Kerbin system..... Kinda put the kibosh on my motivation. No real challenge unless I force it. Which is not something that motivates me. I need forced difficulty. Personal preference, of course. Perhaps some difficulty settings geared towards science earned would help. They're coming out with an economy soon, that hopefully will help. Another pet peeve would have to be selecting small parts during assembly. I cannot remember the number of times I've tried to move a strut only to grab an entire stage. Ctrl + Z corrects the issue, but it's unsettling. I always feel the need to reset my fuel lines and make sure all the struts are in place. I always find a set or two of struts that have been disconnected. Another would have to be when I place parts aside to do a little remodeling. If the removed parts are small enough then trying to pick them up (or even seeing them) in order to replace them is a hassle.

The look on his face says it all. "Did... Did I just survive that?"

Had a bit of fun just now. I was careening towards Kerbin's North Pole and decided to get a EVA report at around 500 altitude (after the chutes deployed). He falls and I quickly reload. Unfortunately my chutes have glitched (probably a mod I'm using) and now I'm quickly falling towards the ground. In a move of desperation (not even sure it would work!) I EVA Jebediah and he actually stays on the pods body. I quickly right-click the larger chute and select "cut", "Repair" and then "Deploy" and instantly press "F" to get back inside the pod. This all occurred within seconds and I barely pulled it off. I'm in a cold sweat and Jebediah is just smiling away. lol Needless to say, I couldn't be prouder of the brave Kerbin. We got our surface sample and EVA report and had his people recover him. He has quite the story to tell. Anyone have similar stories?

Building a custom PC is (most of the time) cheaper than buying retail computer of around the same quality. My system cost me around $1200 over the course of a few months.
