10/10 because I can guess that it is a B787 because of your user name. 0/10 if I am incorrect and you are tricking me. -
CCiCap was announced, SpaceX and Boeing were selected
Aningaaq replied to B787_300's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thanks for all the helpful information B787. I really should be more up to date with this considering I just found out (2 minutes ago) that I live 5 minutes away from SpaceX. I had no idea. -

So, let me see if I understand this... Three major companies are competing for a contract to build (is design done?) a space taxi (similar to something like the Endeavor?) for NASA? What are the three designs from each of the companies? I've been totally consumed with my little time studying the Mars 2020 rover, Rosetta, and GPR/IPR instruments. I can't be the only one oblivious to all of this haha. -

J site should be called Jacques after Jacques Cartier -
Not sure. I might be what you call a night owl. The user below me is extremely hopeful that Philae will successfully land on Comet 67P in November.

I have a joke: Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?". The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guys says "OK, now what?" The user below me struggled to get out of bed this morning.

Mojang in talks with Microsoft for 2 billion dollar sale
Aningaaq replied to Rainbowtrout's topic in The Lounge
Good point. That is if the devs want to work for Microsoft! They have enough money to start up their own developing start ups. -

Well, for one it would open up jobs for people designing and maintaining those machines. Humans would not directly be doing the work but a sector would be created for mechanical engineers and the like. Unfortunatly, not everyone has or wants the aptitude for such a job. Simply, some people are better at hard labor and some may even find solace in such work. The downside, as I see it, is the lack of objects created by the hands of a human. Quality or Quantity? That is the question but the answer is quantity considering the increase of population. A silver lining is that a demand for human crafts will increase as they become more rare. Just spitballing here.

Oil painting maybe but I don't think that is safe considering the closed environment.

Some think it might be cheesy but I really like "Alien Planet" based on the book. Fun series.

One of my favorite science fiction movies of all time is "How I Ended This Summer". It is a Russian film about two men stationed in the Arctic Circle conducting meteorological research. The older man is a seasoned field researcher whereas the younger one is a recent college graduate. Okay, maybe it is not Sci-Fi in the traditional science but it does involve science and it is a work of fiction. It is a very intense drama that revolves around conducting research in isolation. They might as well be in space. The acting is superb and the photography is excellent. You will feel like you have visited that part of the world. I hope you give it a watch. I believe it is in on Netflix.
