  1. Hey, electricpants here. It's been a while. This has been a personal project of mine for a little over 4 years now, as I first started making this star back in December of 2019. It's been a long journey, and I've changed a lot since I started. I've been working on this on and off, and the project has kinda been in development hell, having gone through many different iterations before I landed on the system layout I liked best, which is this current one. The mod is still heavily in-development, and I don't know if I'll ever truly finish it, but I really just want to finally get this system out there, so that people can play (and hopefully enjoy) it for themselves. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- You start the game in a highly-compact system orbiting a very cold star. Do note that despite its unusually low temperature and mass, Cherra IS a star, and not a brown dwarf, which is thanks to its high metallicity, providing just enough insulation to keep the core hot enough for hydrogen fusion. Though the planets all look easily accessible, it's harder than you think to navigate Cherra's system, as it takes a LOT of delta-V to get anywhere with pure rocket power. Gravity assists will be your friend here, though you may have to chain many of them together, as they aren't as powerful in this system. Everything moves so fast, it's hard to get something to change your trajectory much! Additionally, spheres of influence are very small in this system, so lots of orbital adjustments may be needed to get everything just right. Some basic descriptions + pictures of the main bodies (spoilers ahead!) CHERRA (Parsec B): PEPSOL (Parsec Bd): DESKEN (Parsec Be): THORBIN (Parsec Bc): ASOOL (Parsec Bb): PARSEC (Parsec Aa) + ARCSEC (Parsec Ab): EXTRA PICTURES!: -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- And there it is! Those little blurbs only covered the central stars and Cherra's 4 main planets, but there's plenty of other stuff to find too, I'm just leaving it up to the player to discover themselves. I know this isn't much, and in comparison to a lot of other planet mods out nowadays, it's not too great visually, but I still hope this is enjoyable to those who choose to play this mod! Do note that, due to me having to use post spawn orbit for Desken, there are unavoidable glitches with the KSC screen in-game. Don't worry, these are purely visual bugs, and do not carry over to flight view or map view. Also, I'm putting this project out under a CC BY-NC-ND license. You can copy and distribute this wherever you want, but only in an unchanged form and for non-commercial purposes. Also, I forgot to say, but Kopernicus Expansion is a dependency for this mod. Download it here. I hope you all have a good day. Download the WIP here!
  2. THIS MOD ADDS A RESIDENT ANALOGUE FOR 2MASS J0523-1403, 2 PLANETS, AND 1 DWARF PLANET ORBITING IT. 2KAS-J0523: This is the tiniest star ever discovered, it's even smaller than Jool! It has no Gas giants, but it does have 1 rocky planet around it! OSIRIS: Osiris was the first Hot Jool discovered around a red dwarf star, Osiris is quite small, a little more than 1/6 the radius of Jool. VERIDIAN: This planet is the only planet. it's Kerbin sized with Kerbin-like gravity, but with no atmosphere or liquid water because of a violent flare star being it's host star. CORVICE: Corvice is Veridian's lagrangian partner, and as such, it technically orbits Veridian. Corvice is about the size of the Mun. 3. Three small, rocky planets have been detected around the red dwarf YZ Ceti about 12 light-years away. It is a 0.16 solar radius flare star less than 2 light-years from Tau Ceti. Radial velocity observations confirmed three planets with orbital periods of 1.97, 3.06, and 4.66 days. A fourth planet orbiting every 1.04 days may also exist. The three confirmed planets are the lightest worlds found by radial velocity, with masses of 0.75, 0.98, and 1.14 ME, with the extra candidate being around 0.472 ME. Unfortunately, none of these worlds reside within their star's habitable zone, but this may turn out to be a system similar to TRAPPIST-1, with at least half a dozen planets in a resonant chain. Details on the planets from NASA's Exoplanet Archive: https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/DisplayOverview/nph-DisplayOverview?objname=yz+cet+b&type=CONFIRMED_PLANET https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/DisplayOverview/nph-DisplayOverview?objname=YZ+Cet+c&type=CONFIRMED_PLANET https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/DisplayOverview/nph-DisplayOverview?objname=YZ+Cet+d&type=CONFIRMED_PLANET
  4. The Dwarf Star is a mod that adds a tiny red dwarf carbon star1 that, as of now, adds 2 planets, which orbit the star (Which is named 'Phoenix'). I'm also going for a user-based approach, where users here can suggest planets/moons2 to be added around Phoenix. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current Objects: PHOENIX: Phoenix is a tiny, tiny L-type main sequence carbon star with a soot-grey3 atmosphere and 1 planet orbiting it. REKIESSE: With its great bulk, deadly features and great proximity to the star, this planet proves the most daunting of all the Phoenix worlds and it eludes all reasoning. The only supporting knowledge for its presence is that it formed at or beyond the outer border of the habitable zone and migrated in. SEPTIS: A planet just a tad larger than Kerbin, but with a bit less gravity. It's close enough to Phoenix to feel quite a lot of tidal friction, but isn't close enough to be a molten wasteland. The surface is dotted with volcanoes, as well as patches of blue-black bacteria. No water is on the surface, but there are pockets underground that the bacteria feast on. NEEBRILLE: Neebrille is a large planet almost entirely made of water, except for the iron core, and some small archipelagos floating ontop of the liquid water. Most of the water is frozen because of low temperatures or high pressures, but there is a wide equatorial 'river' that is liquid. ABRAXA: Abraxa is a cold, dark world with a hot side covered in liquid ammonia. The planet is smack in the middle of the ammonia based habitable zone, so it's feasible for hosting alien life, and Abraxa will likely be the last refuge for kerbalkind once the Sun dies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to: Me, for making the mod @ProtoJeb21, who helps with the planets. @JadeOfMaar, who makes the resource configs so you can mine the $%&# out of the planets! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOWNLOAD: https://spacedock.info/mod/1261/The Dwarf Star PICS: DEPENDENCIES: Kopernicus (Packaged with the mod) RECOMMENDATIONS: KSP Interstellar Revived RoverDude's Standalone Warp Drive -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1: I specifically stated that it's a red dwarf, as most carbon stars are red giants. 2: They have to be plausible. So no moons or magnificent, Saturn-like rings around a planet that orbits Phoenix every 1 day. Also, try and make them unique, not something everyone and their mother has done before. Even better, if your planet is supposed to have life, research the solvent liquid for this life to confirm it can make life of some sort occur naturally. 3: Yes, I spell grey like that. Deal with it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, please note that Phoenix doesn't just have an ammonia-based habitable zone. It also has methane-based, water-based, chlorine-based, sulfur-based, etc habitable zones, just like every other star (Including the Sun).
  5. The Phoenix Red Dwarf System is a mod that adds a tiny red dwarf carbon star1 that, as of now, adds 1 planet, which orbits the star (Which is named 'Phoenix'). I'm also going for a user-based approach, where users here can suggest planets/moons2 to be added around Phoenix3. Current Objects: PHOENIX: Phoenix is a tiny, tiny L-type main sequence carbon star with a soot-grey4 atmosphere and 1 planet orbiting it.
