Installing Mods on the Mac

Recommended Posts

If you're running the Steam version of KSP on OSX, the location of the directory can get a little wonky compared to what you might be used to for your applications. The KSP folder itself, in a typical install, will be located in:

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Kerbal Space Program

and inside the "Kerbal Space Program" folder there will be a folder called GameData. For most mods, all you do is move the folder containing all of the mod files to GameData. Even if a mod has a more complicated procedure to follow, generally the first step will be locating the "Kerbal Space Program" folder anyway.

It's also worth noting that the contents/organisation of mods' zip files does differ from one to another. If you tell us the mod you've downloaded, or even better show us its folder-structure, we can give you specific instructions of what has to go into the installs' GameData.

Im running KSP on my 2013 MacBook Pro (stock runs pretty good actually, relatively speaking), I just want some helpful mods to make the game easier, but won't slow down the game. For MechJeb and Kerbal Engineer, can I just plop the files in the GameData folder and I'm good to go?

What about the "Restock" mod? Let me know!

Hi Scubapink, I believe installing addons on a Mac is the same as with Windows and Linux, if you unzip the addon to the Kerbal Space Program/GameData folder it should find it :)
