It comes from French, from when only poor people knew English, they added some French to it to sound less poor.

It originated with the loading screen line "Adding K- to every word" that appears randomly during game loading. It kinda took off from there.

Actually, it's the other way around - the "adding K to every word" loading screen line came from the "K- Syndrome" way too long ago (like nova said).

Plus it conjures images of their god being a giant space fish. In a weird way that actually makes sense since it would fit with the Kraken.

Because creativity is much harder than just randomly slapping the letter K in place of (or in front of) the first letter of a given word and saying it's Kerbal-related. Not that creativity is really the goal of a lot of those struck with K Syndrome.

On the other hand, I'm totally fine with calling the sun Kerbol. I like puzzling over this root "ker", and wondering exactly what it means. Does ker mean home, maybe?

Replacing the first letter of a word with K if the first letter is not C is annoying. If it is a word that begins with a C, not as annoying. I prefer Kommunity to KSP Community, it's identifying.

Didn't "adding k to every word" mean that you can add it anywhere in the word...not just changing the first letter. Like Afrika i.o. Africa and not just Kafrica.

If it takes a bit of work to figure it out, then I would say it's okay. But if it's a version that's super common, not so much.

Except that it lied. I checked after the game finished loading and I found some words without 'K' in them. I think I'll file that as a bug report.
