Pc vs xbox

Ugh, this again.

If you have the money, and really love gaming on full res, PC is better by far.

If your pockets aren't lined with cash, but you like gaming and maybe want to stream movies and TV shows, an Xbox or PS4 is better.

You can spend less money than you would for a bone or PS4 and still get something that'll play the latest games reasonably well. PCs have scalability, whereas consoles don't even backwards compatibility anymore.

Ehh... You ask this HERE? Lol, on a forum for a game thats pc exclusive? ( and hopefully remains that way ). PC is better. Console gaming has gone completely down the toilet with advertisement campaigns and dlc cash grab gimmicks.

Every game that hits consoles is just bombing one after another. Hopefully its consumers and reviewers catching on to corrupt business practices that plague console gaming.

Games don't even work properly. Tried to play some Master Chief Collection last night. "Multiplayer is not allowed." So the majority of my night was taken up troubleshooting an error that cannot be fixed on my end by any means.

So today I will be canceling my Xbox live service and putting my Xbox up for sale. Can't be paying for this junk that doesn't work.

Thats all consoles are now anyway. Just junk.

I've generally spent ~€150 per year upgrading my main PC, and have rarely run into problems running new games. PC gaming is only expensive if you want it to be.

The bonus is I end up with multiple PC's I can cobble together from old spares for various purposes.

I can see why some would choose a console, I went down the SNES route back in the 16-bit era, but I'd far prefer to be on a PC these days. There's been so few decent console exclusives that I don't even consider that a significant issue. Plus the reliability of consoles doesn't seem to be that great based on the experiences of some of my friends, I've had one friend in particular that bought 4 XB360's, and got an average of 9 months use out of each.

Consoles are good for some games, I prefer to play things like Devil may cry on consoles due to ports being all over the place, then there's game like dark souls 2 that either suffer or are made harder from PC's 60 FPS.

I'm in two minds. Yes PCs can offer flashier graphics, and the games are often more competitively priced. But I just seem to spend an awful lot of time faffing about with graphic settings, controller configurations, mod installations, and so on, and then worrying about framerates and whatnot. Whereas with my 3DS - the only current console I own - I can just put a game in and play.

Console wars? Oh boy...

I'm in on the PC masterrace. Consoles are neat, but I prefer PC's because I feel more in control with the keyboard and mouse. Of course, not all PC's are created equal, so getting a good PC for gaming can cost a ridiculous amount of money after the initial cost of the computer. However, with the obvious disability to modify console hardware, all games for consoles are created with the same specs in mind, thus guaranteeing a smooth gameplay experience.

However, PC's are different: PC game developers do not have to create their games with a certain spec amount, and they can make their games as hardware-intensive or not as they please. Because of this some games run and play even better than what could be possible on consoles, games like Space Engine and KSP are great examples. Plus there's always the dozens of extra buttons PC games can use.

I Have a PC, a PS4, 360, PS2, N64, and a SNES. I still occasionally bust out the older systems, Its more fun then emulating IMO.

My PC I build from scratch in '13. I does everything I ask it to admirably, Even up to emulating Gamecube at 30FPS. GTA4 runs a little slow for my taste, for that reason I will get GTA5 on my PS4.

I use a 360 controller for quite a few of my games on PC, games like Dishonored, Just Cause 2, and Skyrim. My PC is also great at modded games like the total war ones I play.

My PS4 on the otherhand, plays Alien Isolation beautifully, always at a smooth FPS and I was blown away by the graphics. I use it for console exclusives like Madden too. Also I have a friend come over and we play Minecraft from the same couch, an experience that has been much more fun for me than any of the PC minecraft I've played.

TL;DR

EVERY SYSTEM HAS PROS AND CONS, JUST PLAY WHAT YOU PREFER.

TLDR - PC is better

Don't get me wrong, consoles have good exclusives, but that is the only thing they have going for them. The only reason you would buy a console is for exclusives, hence why I call the Xboxes, Halo Machines. PC is better for these reason -

- In the long run, a PC is cheaper. Sure, the upfront cost is more expensive than a console, it's hard to compare $700 to $300. But every game market on has sales all the time pretty much. Most AAA games on console are $60. An AAA game on PC would be $30 at most during a sale.

- Larger indie market. There are tens of thousands (maybe even hundred thousands) of indie games out there. And you can make your own. For free. Just download Unity or GameMaker and some Youtube tutorials and you can make a simple game in a few weeks.

- It can double as a work/school machine. Most you can do work on a console is through communications.

- You can customize it. Save up enough money and you can upgrade some parts and make your PC even better.

- Less incompetent devs. More and more devs (usually on consoles) are having the mind set of "lol 30 FPS is more cinematic and we should lock the game to 30 FPS." Just look at Bloodborn (it looked like a freaking powerpoint in the game showcases) and the Order 1886.

- Better hardware in general. Like I said earlier, $300 is better than $700 when paying for something, but the $700 option is 5x better than the $300 option. A $700 PC can run most mid tier, some high tier, games at 60 FPS 1080p

there's game like dark souls 2 that either suffer or are made harder from PC's 60 FPS.

How does 60FPS make a game harder?

The durability of the weapons ticks down based on FPS, since they made Dark souls 2 for consoles first they balanced the durability mechanic around 30FPS, Since the PC version go to 60FPS weapons lose durability twice as fast, so if you're not prepared for it it becomes a serious game changer.

I was going to call some major BS on this, but I researched it and you are right.

But a "bug" isn't a viable argument to say 30FPS > 60FPS. Incompetent devs aren't a good argument at all. And it is something that can be easily fixed with a mod.

No it's not a good argument but it's one of the issues you are going to face if you approach PC gaming with the same attitude as console gaming. It's like being sliding down a hill on a sled and then thinking you can jump right on a snow board.

I play both roughly evenly. I started as strictly a PC gamer, but when Bioshock came out I was going to have to upgrade my gaming PC again, tossing a 6 month old graphics card to buy one that supported the latest and greatest crap. An Xbox 360 was the same price, and I decided I was done with the PC hassles. So I switched to Xbox for several years. Now I'm also doing lots of early access gaming via Steam, so also bought a proper gaming laptop.

But I don't do any AAA gaming on my laptop at all. It's all bought for Xbox so I can share with family. Nobody else gets to use my laptop. :)

If you can afford it you should own a PC that handles games reasonably well and atleast one console. I think both can give you different enough experiences that justifie the purchase. Even more when you consider that todays consoles also have other services such as netflix. And yes i know that you can hook up your PC to your TV screen as well but then you miss out on exclusive titles. And to everyone who says he can't aim with a controller, you know there are other genres besides Shooters out there and some of them are better suited to gamepads in my opinion.

Console is in the living room and can be played by the whole family. It offers a shared experience with other family members. XBox Live gets you tons of free games to download, and even if they are a couple of years old they don't stop being good just because they are old.

PC's are typically in bedrooms, for playing solo or online. They are also much more expensive. Not at all the same experience.

Yea if only they didn't charge for online services. Even after all that advertisement money and more expensive games. They still charge us. Thats what's ridiculous right there.

It's hardly like paying for online services is alien to PC gaming. Some PC games are good about offering free online multiplayer, but on the flip side the worst excesses of "Pay to Win" gaming on PC leave consoles in the shade.
