Asuka v. Rei

Ok, I'm sure many of you have at least watched the anime known as Neon Genesis Evangelion. I was wondering, who do you think would make a more suitable girlfriend for Shinji?

For me, I say that Rei is more suitable.

And remember that Shinji is not especially strong emotionally. Both don't fit him and his need to be understood.

+ I can't choose Rei alone due to her being the clone of his mother (don't mind the hair and eyes) and I know he don't remember her (mother) but still... Well she is my favorite character but for a kid like him... she is too weird.

Did anyone else get a giggle when both Rei and Shinji said they smell the other when they were in each other's Eva for the compatability tests?

From a psychological standpoint, Asuka would be the obvious choice since Shinji is a definite introvert and Asuka has a lot more outgoing personality. As such, they balance each other out. Rei is introverted too, and as such her being in a relationship with Shinji just wouldn't work.

Don't worry to much, IIRC Rei can't have child.

Come to think of it, Rei and him have pretty good relationship throughout the anime (didn't see the rebuilt version yet)... yeah she never act normally but they do care for each other.

Misato, on the other hand, is a hard-drinking party girl who handles enormous responsibilities with class...and a penguin. Very much the "short skirt and long jacket" type, which I adore.

(Of course, my opinion has been greatly influenced by Rei's depiction in the Shinji Ikari Raising Project)
