(Turn-based) Kerbal Multiplayer Collaboration

It actually feels pretty good having gotten that turn off of my chest. Any recommendations on how I should record docking for my next turn? I've tried it multiple ways. One is that I just end up with a 40 minute video of me tinkering with the intercept and the other just cuts the part where i tweak the intercept and gets right to the docking procedure.

That's the biggest problem with recording KSP. Sometimes it gets a bit too slow-paced. If you find some operation a bit to long (and adjusting a node is probably not too interesting for the viewers), one of the options may be recording that part without (or with minimum) commentary and cutting/speeding it to just a few seconds of showing essential parts. Also, docking something heavy and commenting may not go together too well. Don't know about you, but I'm likely to either start babbling something not too interesting or just mess up the docking. Shuttle part of my video report turned into post-commentary over sped-up footage, but it seems to be the optimal way for me for operations at such scale (however for more fast-paced action-packed parts live commentary is better). But that's something to select individually.

When my turn comes around, I'm going to try and bring down (or magically terminate from the Tracking Station) some of the debris that's been collecting.

You can land my Callisto if you wish. (She just needs a few tons of fuel/oxidizer delivered.) Or you can use her to grab that spent stage from one of the modules left in polar orbit (securing the payload is not strictly necessary, but I guess a claw can be docked in for that purpose).

Speaking of Chronus station and shuttles, what do you think about this for supply and return vehicle?

By the way, Musil, when's Jool Club starting?

I have been a little swamped with work, so I let it go for a while... But tell you wat, let's start tomorrow. I will upload the first save and do all the google drive related paperwork. Do you think it should be a sub-folder for our current KMC? I think that's best, since other people might want to do the same once it starts, maybe with their own teams of 5 players or maybe filling in for any dropouts from ours.

Also, I was thinking about taking video of it. Can you make recommendations? I have never done it. Not sure if my computer can handle it or if my internet connection is going to allow me to upload it, but it's worth a try.

A subfolder is necessary.

Videos are always good.

I personally use record with Dxtory and edit with Vegas, but those are pretty expensive. If you're looking for free stuff to get you started (or for a test drive of the YouTube universe), I'd recommend Windows Live Movie Maker for editing and CamStudio for recording. Neither of them have any decals, but you have to play with CamStudio's settings for a bit to get the correct framerate.

Recording doesn't actually increase your computer's workload by very much.

As for internet connections, mine's pretty terrible, but a 720p, 3 minute video only takes about 5 mins to render (with Movie Maker) and 10 mins to upload.

You can try out camtasia studio 8 for 30 days for free. It's pretty simple and renders 720p at a decent speed. There are a few free recording programs out there but I don't know the specifics. I use fraps/camtasia 8.

OK, I have created a folder for the Jool Club challenge and put up the basic rule set. Anyone interested in joining, please inscribe you name at the end. If you have comments on any of the rules, speak freely and vote.

I will be uploading the save file this afternoon.

I think I could give it a go. I'll need permission on a Tylo lander design first, however. It's quite excessive from what the rules state, but it's as compact as I could make it.
