(Turn-based) Kerbal Multiplayer Collaboration

I'll participate. Building a low partcount HypeTrain shuttle maybe?

- - - Updated - - -

So how would I participate in the free shared file exactly?

Welcome, GregoxMun!

I'll sum it up if the instructions aren't clear:

1) You wait until no one is using the save file.

2) You take it, do (almost) whatever you want to it, and then re-upload it to the shared folder.

There are a few rules I didn't mention, and a few extra steps you have to take, but that's the gist of it. Refer to the OP for more info.

Good luck on the HypeTrain, 50 parts is less than you think.

Idea: another, separate collaboration that would allow multiple users to be collaborating at any one time. (4 saves in total, 2 calendar and 2 freeplays)

Also, are players allowed to have more than one ship per turn? If so, would they then not be allowed to dock?

I was considering multiple saves, now that we have 18 users...

Let me repeat this: Whatever you want. If you follow all the rules you can send up a thousand ships and dock them all to other crafts.

So for my fuel depot. I was going to send up what would be essentially 3 modules in one payload then separate and rearrange them later. Would this be a violation of the rules if all three segments together totaled more than 50 parts or is that only if each module was more than 50 parts? It says the limit is 50 parts per turn so would I have to construct the station over the course of 3 turns or strip it down to bare bones framework?

Nice, but I'm not that capable of the stuff we are doing right now in terms of rockets.

Moar Boostahs? No. Moar DV? YESSSSSSScaps

EDIT: Wait, I thought the station was defunct! I wanna participate in the polar station, so put me in the waiting room please.

Welcome, RAINCRAFTER! I'm not that capable either, I've only done the Jool-5 twice, a Kerbol Grand Tour once, built an SSTO that can deliver 36 tons to Minmus, and gone to Duna and back with only one engine. No biggie.

You would have to construct the space station over the course of 3 turns. However, you could make 3 refueling depots 50 parts each.

But, does a refueling depot really need that many parts? You can get away with some pretty big stuff with just 50 parts. Look at this guy from Nauthy's KSPCB:

I want one for Eve. It needs to be able to drive from the Eve Base (79.4 degrees west, 1.4 degrees south) to the mountain to the south of it (79.0 degrees west, 2.8) degrees south and any slope that entails. Looks like about 21 degrees max. Also, it would be nice if it was amphibious.

Cool. I'll see what I can conjure up. I'll also make a specialized delivery ship to carry it. See you in a few.

EDIT: This is proving a bit more challenging that I estimated. But don't worry, it'll be here.

EDIT: Man, this is hard. I can make the rover, but it only moves at 1.3 m/s in oceans. That is intolerable. How fast do you want it to go?

No, not the whole base, just Jeb.

...Oh... well, time for a redesign!

EDIT: Got it done, but I couldn't make the launcher. I'll let you design something. Making this work was enough of a chore for now.

What are we taking to Duna beside a lander? Will we want to leave orbital accomodations? I could do a mini-station to bring along Conqueror, as habitation/relay.

Also, how much would it interfere if we used "stockified" plugins? As in, add some KAS space to manned pods using MM. Will it bug out the save for those people without KAS or MM? Even if it doesn't, will it persist after such a player uses the file, so the next player with such mods get access to it?

Anyway, I'm doing some hab pods, if they're welcome on Duna I dock them to Conqueror, otherwise Kerbin's decorative station.

I can't see the dropbox file from my work firewall, has anyone called dibs currently? Otherwise, me, me!

EDIT: OH I get it! You want something to pull your Eve base out of the ocean! Why didn't ya say so? Or at least I hope that was your intention, otherwise I look like an idiot, which would mean I am no different from how I am in real life.

You will have to figure out if KAS or MM bug out the save.

I want to put as few things on this mothership as possible.

Finally! Oh man, you are gonna love this! Saying it now, I'm mostly just showing off with this, but... Just look:

FR8V2c4.png

Got your attention now? This bad boy is the latest and greatest of my cosmetic rover collection. It doesn't really do much outside of look cool, but it can ride in oceans.

Action group 1 has all torque settings bound to it.

Use action group 1 when switching between flying through space and landing. Also use it if you encounter a stability issue, say through moving too fast across bumpy terrain.

He can reach top speed of about 31 m/s, though it's not advisable to go anywhere near that high.

He can ride in oceans, reaching slow but steady speed of about 2.4 m/s

He sports a docking port for Xenon refueling or crane adaptability.

He can brave slopes of up to 56 degrees without breaking a sweat. Don't believe me on that one? After doing a bit of math after testing Eve, I've confirmed it. Here's a glamour shot of that moment:

So, you want him? You can have him! http://www./download/k0bto6e26pbj1av/Rover+and+requirements.zip

Just put the craft file in your VAB, and the "Requirements" folder in your GameData folder, and you should be all set!

"Him", huh? Interesting... :)

I like it. :D

Yes, I've called it for now. :) I'll be placing the Duna-Ike lander onto the Duna Conquerer. If you've got something to put on, and you go after me, just make sure to refill all of the tanks before you leave!

Despite precise fuel calculations for the Mothership, my re-usable-multi-purpose-Jool-system-lander failed to have what it needed to land on Tylo and take of again.

More pictures coming in an album.

Alright. I'll probably be done in around four or five hours.

I'll be sure to keep the tanks topped up! :)

EDIT:

Oh, there's a Kerbal stranded on Tylo! I'll build that ship too, in my off-turn.

I'm going to make a stock version of this so we can use it.

Also, we officially have our first stranded kerbal! Well, technically, they're all stranded, but this one was on accident! (Or so I'm told.)

May I call dibs?

Plan:

Hab/science/observation module on polar Kerbin station

(maybe) Start a Kerbin Gateway station with fuel and many brave kerbals ready for space exploration.

- - - Updated - - -

also: a test ship with some KAS storage space added via MM. Next one to use the save file, tell me if it explodes on load!

on second thought, I'll do that test locally, then if needed I upload the save so someone can double-check me.
