The ion engines produce almost 1/4 of the total thrust but it's not enough to land on most celestial bodies (the limit is around 1/10th of g), so my advice would be, use time warp x4 when performing your ion "burn", and alt-tab because it's gonna take a while, and save the liquid fuel for landing.

Glad that the lander performed weLL!

Your screens are awesome by the way.

alt-tab is just to switch to desktop actually ^^

so you can do other stuff while doing your rather slow ion burn was what i meant

and alt+enter toggle fullscreen (useful at ksp loading screen for instance)

OK, thanks.

Can the parachute and liquid fuel engine handle the 1g of Kerbin? I'm hoping with a low fuel load it will.

My calculations in wolframalpha and assumptions says that even with 20 containers dV will be ~22000 m/s at most. With only 5 containers it is ~10000 m/s. Not too impressive for carrier mode. Great ship but not enough to say that ion trusters are OP. By the ways what is the dV, initial and final mass of this spaceship ???

Xenon gas is 90% of container's price so even returning it back to Kerbin with 100% recovery price.

Am I wrong in something ?

It's meant for this purpose, so it should work, but who knows? ^^'

Did you like the landing leg behavior? Which of the 2 version was better?

Great pics again, these show the design a bit further thanks.

This is hosted on the KSP facebook page today! Well done man.

Thanks for notifying me, I wouldn't have seen it otherweise.

That's great! I wonder if Squad's pick on this design is related to the infamous logo ;)

Wet Ma

Am I wrong in something ?

Hard Ver.

Wet mass: 10.3T

Dry mass: 6T

________________

Soft Ver.

Wet mass: 10.65T

Dry mass: 5.65T

I'm not really into career mode gameplay mechanics yet

And refueling would be too complicated anyway because many tanks are clipped.

I think you got this right for the deltaV, but this being a hybrid lander, it carries a capsule, and rocket fuel too.

The hard version additionally has to lift a small I-beam and 1x1 struct panel.

What's the Kerbin TWR? DeltaV? Why so many RCS Ports? Is there a 48-7S on the bottom?

It's 38 kN total thrust (48-7S + 4 ion engines), I don't think there's that many RCS ports? It makes the lander dockable and controllable.

I haven't had time to land the soft version yet. The legs on the hard version worked fine during the Mun landing. I always take lots of screens so I will post a few more when I land the soft version.

Also, I really like how you did the parachute! I did a test abort launch using the soft version just to see how well it worked. Nicely done!

OK, successful soft Minmus landing.

There is landing legs in the soft version too as well, they're just somewhat clipped in the lander (quite ugly I shall say and change that maybe next version). Oh and it has 11 small solar panels because 11 look nice wherever you look at it .. well almost ^^

Have fun

Wow, had no idea! I need to check those legs out. I will take off lower the legs and do another landing.

I think the legs are way too big in this version. The ladder doesn't reach the ground and a leg goes through it. I think you are right, they need to be changed.
