There are a few good KSP focused modelling tutorials on the forum to get you started.

Here's one for Blender.

And ~ shameless plug ~ here's my tutorial for Wings 3D (Including texturing)

If not to model them yourself, you could try taking the models from Orbiter (Which I believe are free to use, though you should be careful). There's a few tools available in the Orbiter community to convert the models to KSP friendly formats.

Here's some constellation stuff.

Most Orbiter models do in fact have...interesting...licensing. I would not suggest that as route. The tutorials are great though! Augustus, I highly, highly recommend just taking some time and learning this stuff. It can be fun, and you'll get much more of a sense of accomplishment.

Ah apologies for that. My only experience with Orbiter add-on licencing was for a Space: 1999 model, which I recall was CC (Or one of the more permissive licences).

Yeah, Orbiter is probably not a good route to go with this :)
