Here is a copy of the email I just received :

We are writing to let you know that there may have been unauthorized access to some of your Twitch user account information, including possibly your Twitch username and associated email address, your password (which was cryptographically protected), the last IP address you logged in from, and any of the following if you provided it to us: first and last name, phone number, address, and date of birth.

For your protection, we have expired your password and stream keys. In addition, if you had connected your account to Twitter or YouTube, we have terminated this connection.

You will be prompted to create a new password the next time you attempt to log into your Twitch account. If applicable, you will also need to re-connect your account to Twitter and YouTube, and re-authenticate through Facebook, once you change your password. We also recommend that you change your password at any other website where you use the same or a similar password.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

Has anyone else received this email? I don't think I provided them with any real information other than my email account. I've learned my lessons over the years. Is there any reason to be alarmed? This kinda thing seems to happen alot these days.

Well, I actually sleep with my shotgun within arms reach. But, that is for intruders and snakes and such. How should I apply the shotgun to the twitch situation? Interesting thought.

Well, I got a similar email from ebay after their most recent hack. I had to change the password and update the account there, but I haven't seen any repercussions from that event yet, not saying that there still won't be any. I'm not really to worried about it with this twitch situation either.

@ michaelsteele3 : LOL. :) That's funny. A neighbor of mine got woke up early in the morning one time by noises in the attic. He said he figured it was a squirrel. Well, he was pretty mad because he was really tired and also still angry about the recent flying squirrel attacks in his kitchen. For those of you that don't know, flying squirrels are real, and they can really mess up a kitchen. Anyway, he figured the best solution was to use the shotgun. He carefully aimed at the spot he thought the noises were originating from, and "BOOM", fired away. He missed the squirrel, but, successfully blew a hole all the way through the roof. True story. You can't make this stuff up. I still laugh about it to this day.

Yes. Thank Jool for LastPass. When someone decodes my password and finds out it was a random string of characters, numbers, and symbols they'll not be able to get into my bank account, credit card, or anything else with it.

Yikes. I was expecting "and his wife, who was up in the attic looking for old photos, never forgave him."

My dad likes the last pass too. I need to study that more and probably need to be using it myself

The neighbor I mentioned lives by himself in a nice A-frame house at the end of a dead end lane out in the woods of Arkansas, and he used to be my boss. The attic does have some living space, but the area over the bedroom he was sleeping in is in a corner, the blast did not affect the living area in the attic, just the crawl space above the bedroom, and the roof, which subsequently had to be patched before the next rain storm. He used to sleep in the attic before we told him that the microwave radiation from the nearby cell phone tower would be channeled through the coils of his bed springs and directly into his brain, causing even more damage than he did to himself in the 60's.;) So, i do still feel somewhat responsible for the still present to this day patch in the roof.:)
