Very good! I got frustrated with chains due to the horrible way KSP/Unity uses/doesn't respect colliders ... Seems those fuel tanks have collider meshes big enough to be respected! With your idea, I could finally drive a camshaft in a reliable manner (if it can handle high rpm) :-)

Awesome job, +rep!

Try it stock, that I would like to see!

The problem with making it stock is it would take tons of small parts to make the micro-rotors to let the track system function. The easiest way to make those micro-rotors would be to use a bunch of cubical octagonal struts. And those break easily so wouldn't be the best for tracks. I see it absolutely possible but would be an unbelievable amount of parts.

Not to mention the colliders are messy as hell! On my chain drive, the chain got ejected *through* the chain sprocket, and remained moving on the ground, without any external or internal power source, like a snake eating itself.

lol! So its possible, just not practical?

Well ... the chain I built used IR as well ... using stock parts with stock sizes, the chain drive alone would take up most of the SPH, be extremely heavy and require more struts than (fill in ludicrous example).
