command-line to auto load quicksave?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We all know KSP loading times are long. Normally we have to run the game, wait for it to load, load our savegame, then load our quicksave.

Is there a command-line that when you run KSP, it auto-loads everything up to your quicksave?

Thanks.

There was a mod called... Modder's helper or something like that. I don't remember the exact name, but it was NOT a good name for what it did. What it did was allow you, during the game loading screen, to pick your save and even what setting you wanted (space center, VAB, etc). Then when the game loaded and WOULD go to the first menu, the mod would instead just load your game and go to the VAB. And the next time you started the game, it defaulted to whatever you set last so if you always want to go to the VAB in a certain save, all you had to do was start the game and walk away until you heard the jazzy VAB music.

I loved it.

But because it had such a nonlogical name I lost it and can't find it again.

When you exit the game (assuming you don't force it closed) it automatically updates the persistent.sfs file to the current state of the game, so I'm not sure what your purpose is in loading a quicksave after loading the main save (i.e. the persistent file).

However, you can force the game to load a quicksave file when you select the save to load from the main menu if you first rename the quicksave file to "persistent.sfs" (without the quotes). I will sometimes do this if there is a bug or crash which means that the quicksave is more up to date than the persistent file (or if the persistent file is irretrievably broken).

It's been said in a DevNote that 1.0 will allow mods to run before the game is loaded (the save game that is, i.e. at the title screen) so you can count on stuff like this appearing as a mod if it doesn't become stock. However it's not possible currently.

Dev Helper is the Name and here it is: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/60880-0-24-Magic-Smoke-Industries-DevHelper-v0-6

I use it and love it. And it's still compatible to 0.90 although it says 0.24.

Loading a quicksave instead of the autosave (persistent.sfs) doesn't sound useful to me either. Loading quicksave directly after launching the game may only be necessary after a game crash where the quicksave would be the latest file. Usually just quit the game normally and have an autosave to be loaded next time.
