How does one become a moderator?

Columbia

Recommended Posts

I wanted to ask after randomly seeing the rank "Moderator" on my profile. I just would like to clarify: Do moderators still get application forms, or are promoted whenever one pleases?

I'm not saying that I am against becoming one myself, but could someone clarify me on this? And what happens when one is promoted?

Thanks in advance!:D

Okay, thanks!

Another question: Does it mean anything if you suddenly see the "moderator" rank on your profile, or is that just a known bug? I never applied for being a moderator, but I see it on my profile.

Lol every one is a moderator now.

Except the mods, apparently. I wonder what other surprises they have in store for us today...

Rune. Here in Spain, though, it's most definitely not the 28th of December, so I can't prank :(

The process of becoming a mod is actually quite grueling (I can say this as I did it just a few months ago). First, you must prepare your body by shaving everywhere and covering yourself in peanut butter. Then there's the physical, where you are tested for endurance and agility by running a 10km obstacle course in subzero temperatures while carrying a backpack full of wet sand. After that, you must write a 1000-word essay about the spirit of the KSP community and how you will preserve and protect it. That done, you move on to the Reverse Captcha, where you must read 1000 posts and determine which ones are spambots, miss more than one and you're out. Finally, after you have completed those tasks, you must submit your moderator registration fee of $1000 in cash to Kasper and he'll make you a moderator.

Sounds cruel. I think getting a moderator on 1st of April is much easier. Maybe Columbia and Rune can give you some tips.

When I went to give in my fee, Kasper decided to waive it because I spent more on the air tickets to the Netherlands and back.

I spent a couple nights at his place, and I ended up dropping one of his criminology textbooks in a swamp. Then we made obscene gestures at Belgians. It was a great time.

If I'm a moderator, how come I can't edit other people's posts?

Where's my power?!

Happy landings! (I've been laughing so much since this started. Great job.)

Red's edit: You do it like this.

Well yeah, they wouldn't SERIOUSLY give us the power.

Reminds me of a couple years ago where I impersonated (more parodied than impersonated) a moderator on April Fools, with a 1-minute drawn avatar to look like the moderators. The moderator did know about it beforehand and it was all in good April Fools fun.
