See separation distance while adjusting maneuver node

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to see the separation distance while adjusting the maneuver node? Right now I mouse over the rendezvous point, then mouse over the maneuver node, adjust the mouse wheel, then mouse over the rendezvous point, repeat. It's a pain. I have to be doing this wrong. So is there a better way?

Thanks

Separation from what? A slight clarification would be helpful.

This.

I'm trying to use a maneuver node to reduce the separation distance of a rendezvous. In this example the rendezvous is with an asteroid.

You can use hotkeys with precise node, mouse over the closest approach flags then change your node with keyboard. Bit of a workaround and I never used the hotkeys for it myself, prefer to use the mouse for it. But it is an option

Which hotkeys? W,A,S,D and I,J,K,L don't seem to work.

You shouldn't really need it. When the lines in the center of each marker line up you're at your closest approach.

If that doesn't get you close enough, install MechJeb and make a custom window that shows closest approach distance and tweak it with RCS.

Any Update to this issue?

Right now using Precise Node's Hotkeys, but would love to have a display somewhere about the distance to targest at closest approach.

Would love to have that in Kerbal Engineer Redux, but it offers time to closest approach only.

Kerbal Alarm Clock is able to show that too, but only when setting up the alarm. Do not want to install whole' mechjeb purely for this. NavHud doesn't show it either.

Any Ideas? Maybe i missed something?

When you only eyeball it, it could still be anywhere between 5 km and 2 meters though. Not exactly accurate
