Strange background sound ingame

Hi all,

When ingame at the KSP or anywhere on Kerbin ichave a strange sound in the background. It sounds like wind on a microphone with some quiet crackles in there too.

I have a new install of windows, an xfi sound card if that helps.

There's no weird sounds as far as I know, did you try restarting?

Yup sound persists. No error logs at all.

Yes that's the sound I hear... Do you have a dedicated soundcard?

I have similar audio glitches, though not as frequent.

I think the wind-like sound is intentional (ambient sound).

Yes I can hear ambient wind sound plus those glitchy sounds..

No, it's an X99 Deluxe MB by ASUS. I've never had any audio issues and I've been playing since 0.23

The ambient sound is too loud, I can picture maybe birds or something, but this sounds like an engine was left on. The crackles are the most annoying part.

Hmm. I tried reinstalling the game and the issue still remains on a stock install.. This is very annoying. How the hell do we fix this??

Really? That fixed the popping crackle sound? *fires up KSP* Nope that didn't help..

Anyone have any ideas?

What about ambient noise? There's some background wind noise that may be causing this.

What about the ambient noise? Indeed, when I lower the ambient noise volume to 0 I cannot hear the glitchy sounds.

A fix however seems unlikely.. It must be some kind of hardware thing. My PC has a fresh install of windows and all new drivers..

I'm not hearing this, but sometimes (intermittent) when I change from/to map view I get a short ftt which sounds rather like you are z x ing a mono engine. If this error deserves a separate thread happy to create one...

It is definitely a bug. I hear the ambient wind sound which I like but also another glitchy sound. It is exactly like the file posted on the first page.

I will look for ambient sound mods. I haven't seen any though so far..
