What the heck is happening to Kerbin!?

Recommended Posts

Ummm, while coming back from a successful Mun mission, I encountered this...

It fixes itself under 160km above the surface, but still. Why is this happening? It happens often too.

Also, how come the stars start to fade away the moment you enter the atmosphere instead of 30km above the surface?

Is it the Kraken disguised as a mushroom from Mario? :) Is there any chance you've got the graphics set too high for your system and this is the graphics card or cpu having a hot flush?

I play on a 1.8Ghz ASUS X552C laptop (*ahem* work uh laptop, for business) btw, works fine, just turn the graphics down a bit :)

That's the point when Kerbin transitions from scaled space (think low-detail distance representation) into local space (high detail close-up). Meaning you may have an issue with Kerbin's scaled space model? I'm not really sure if that's possible or not. But ehre's some suggestions:

1.) Backup your saves and screenshots, remove KSP completely, and then do a fresh reinstall.

2.) If that doesn't work, open a thread in the support forum (or ask to have this thread moved there).

I have seen this occasionally, and my impression is that it happens when you approach Kerbin at high warp. The terrain doesn't load properly, and somehow gets stuck that way. However, since it seems to happen randomly, so I'm afraid I haven't been able to investigate it. If I recall correctly, it stayed that way until I switched flights or went back to KSC.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
