Airbrakes don't stick with action groups?

Recommended Posts

Ok this is really frustrating - I'm trying to set the airbrakes to action group "5" to toggle them, but for some reason every time i launch it just puts them back on the brake servo. Why is it resetting them?

Update - They work if you set one to extend and another action group to retract - but toggle is broken...

Nope I learned the hardway. They are actually pre programed to work with breaks instead.

So in other words everythime you press B for breaks they will extend. If you hold the B down they will stay deployed. If you use the icon to Deploy breaks they stay opened also until you press it again.

yep, I literally just found this issue myself. nice 1 for pointing out that extend and retract work (hadn't tried that) as a work around, but with a limited number of precious action groups toggle needs to be fixed!

I also found (need to double check this though),an air brake attached to the underside of a Mk2 Cargo Bay doesn't deploy at all, not even on brake. Other air brakes where working ok and when I moved it off the cargo bay and it started working again. The Mk2 cargo bay does seem to do some odd things, trying to use the offset gizmo with certain parts inside it doesn't work right either.

The service modules have some issues with surface-attached items as well. Seems it's still a bit tetchy about what it considers "inside". Apparently the surface-attached model of some parts clip inside enough to count.

I don't know what you guys are saying, but I have used the airbrakes as rudder by attaching two them oriented horizontally, and slaving them to my stick's rudder axis. Thus, they work independently with brakes and each brake can move individually. I'll show photos here in a bit.

EDIT: I think I know why they don't work as toggles. Squad automatically binds them as a control surface too, as I've mentioned.

I'm going to have to say that this is most certainly a bug and is annoying me like hell. Trying to make a bomb bay with them but no... I guess I'll just have to remove all my other brakes and put them in something like rcs... Ugh Squad why?

I would say that's probably it too, except that I've placed control surface toggles in the abort action group and they worked just fine as speedbrakes, however I haven't tried with the custom action groups. So it's either something wrong with airbrakes being automatically assigned to the brake action group, or something wrong with control surfaces having their toggles in custom action groups.
