Hello all,

I`m tired of m AMD rig and looking to build a new computer. I have everything I need and about to hit the order button but I`m stock on the processor.

What would be better for KSP. a 3.6 5th hen I7 or a 4.0 4th gen I7. I`m not worried about a price diffrence just didn't know if the 4.0 would be better than the 3.6..

Thank you for any advice.

A current gen I5, ht won't do anything for the game....get the I5 and use the leftover cash on something else.

From what I understand, since the physics engine in Unity is not multithreaded a many core processor doesn't help you. In theory then higher speed would improve. At a certain point you can't really make any more improvements though, which is I think Aramchek's point. I just built a computer in the last few weeks with an AMD FX-6300 and it runs the game perfectly at 3.5GHz. Of course, I was using a Core Duo laptop before so anything would have been an improvement.

Unity 5 (which KSP will be upgraded to in the next update) makes use of hyperthreading.

Please be aware you'll need to change the motherboard for either the 4th or 5th gen. They use different sockets.

Please post the model number of the CPU's in question as well as the rest of the build.

I highly doubt it will effectively or noticeably benefit from ht, most of the highest end games don't..HT is for benchmarks.
