It seems like the old ksp youtubers are going away and abandoning ksp or just vanishing.

Macey dean is the biggest example.

then there is suestragaminghd who used to make cinematics.

enterelysium used to have ksp as his main thing BUT NOW ITS ALL JUNK wwk episodes are rare.

HOCgaming completely abandoned ksp!

And there are many more!

For what it is worth, the chart below shows the relative popularity of "Kerbal Space Program" as a Google search term. The chart was created using Google's "Google Trends" tool and covers the time span between January 2011 and May 2015.

I've been away from KSP for several months due to school and burnout from too much KSP, but I'm getting back into it next week and I plan on streaming it once I do.

So yes, people do move on either because they're burned out, busy, or just want something else. Sometimes they come back, other times they don't. Such is life.

As much as I'd like to say that the party IS over (This game's been going for 4 years, I wouldn't be surprised if people are leaving, I haven't played KSP at all for about a year), but thinking that the party's over with KSP is a lot like complaining that Ford doesn't make Model T's. There are new Youtubers and people that will make new videos, you just need to find them and move on with the old guys. I remember when the likes of Scott Manley, kurtjmac, Robbaz, the "old guys" that we all used to love, used to upload new videos so quickly it seemed like there were just hours between them, but nowadays I only follow Robbaz and he only seems to do one or two a month.

And remember that this game doesn't really have a lot in terms of objectives, as compared to other games, so it isn't like you can easily make massive 15+ part series like you could do with other types of games or even multiplayer games (as evidenced by the multitude of series involving GMod Prop Hunt and other GMod gamemodes). You mainly have to come up with the ideas yourself, but for the average gaming youtuber who bases their income (or a majority thereof) off of Youtube there isn't enough time in the day to come up with an idea and execute it, and the fact that it takes loads of time to do things in KSP doesn't help.

It's a great game to make video series of, if you've got the right mentality and time schedule, but for the majority of Youtubers it doesn't seem feasible or reasonable to make a lot of KSP videos on a consistent basis. For a small Youtuber who doesn't have a lot of ongoing series or anything to lose, then it's a great game, but to the big Youtuber who has multiple series that have to be accounted and time budgeted for, has to keep a consistent schedule, and get their entire income from Youtube, then it seems like too big a risk to take for them.

I see this.

Obviously, v1.0. caused the huge spike in the graph. If it wasn't for that, it would follow the typical sygmoidal curve.

Now we have to wait for a few months to see how this new nutrient influx will change things.

Mind that "ksp" might not be a good enough indicator because it might indicate other things, too.

I'm actually waiting for the frantic pace of alpha/beta development to slow down before I really get back into KSP.

The result of my play is usually .craft files I want to release publicly, but that was difficult in the past when a major new update would come along every two months or so breaking everything old and changing things up.

Once official development really slows down, only then can I see myself diving back in.

That's my main issue. It's like Squad says "Oh, you built that 100,000 Square Foot mansion brick-by-brick yourself and it took you 45 years? Have a few wrecking balls on the house!" If they slow it down to once a year (or two years), I might get back into it, but it just plain sucks having all your hard work tossed in the trash after a new update. Maybe they could keep the same frantic dev pace, just release a year's worth of work in a huge update? I dunno.

There are plenty of YouTubers who are making current content (ahem ahem). Just say farewell to the old and explore the new.

I'll buy into that. People seem to easily overlook how open-ended KSP really is; it doesn't suffer from 'level bloat' or 'demigod crowding', where a multiplayer game fills up with experts or highly skilled, highly levelled players that leave noobs feeling like everything they do has been thought of and that they're walking down well-trodden paths with no truly 'new' adventures to chase. In KSP, you choose what problems you solve and how you solve them. That freedom itself is inviting and empowering to the new player.

Yep; if they slow down the release rate, modders will become more confident in their work, and hopefully we'll see more compatibility and stability as a result.

I'm new myself; after watching passively for several months, I'm on board with 1.0. A lot of people have laid the groundwork, and I fully plan to start my own episode line out of my own knowledge of science, technology, aviation, and aerospace (I'm a decently good simulator pilot too; Watch out Scott Manley!) after a few dry runs. The party's hardly over; its moving outdoors.
