The search for the Magic Boulder

Recommended Posts

I just thought of this today. I am playing career right now and was thinking of starting a sandbox game specifically to go search for it. Then decided just to wait to get the tech I need in career to see if it exist.

I am surprised I have not seen anyone posting confirming or denying it exist post 1.0 release, maybe I just missed seeing the thread.

It's not in the game sadly.. Squad have hinted that it may come back in the future though. It sure would make a lot of people happy!

Oh yes it would.

If I could code and were a dev at Squad, I would bring the magic boulder back and not only that.

If you were to mine and convert it's guts to Rocketfuel, the game should do this to your vessel everytime you throttle up ;)

It's an EasterEgg after all right? And people will dig into that little boulder only to see what happens.

Godspeed in finding the mythical, and indeed, magical boulder. Although, I'm not too sure how someone found it in the first place that'd be quite a bit of searching.

Oh! I remember this story! We first found out about it when curious people were poking around the debug log which listed the names of all the objects that got loaded on startup. For quite awhile no one knew where it was until people starting getting near Ike. That's when reports of glimmering pixels were seen in low orbit but no one could seem to catch up to it. There were wild claims being thrown around that it would randomly teleport to different planets/orbits or that it defied orbital mechanics by being too fast/slow for it's altitude.

Eventually, some clever guy wrote a plugin that pointed an arrow directly at it and hunted the boulder down. The dev that hid it there was not amused with this.

Is that really how it happened? That is amazing :)

If I would ever hide something in a game and drive people mad until they write a plugin to find it, i would be damn proud :)

That's hilarious Imagine being one of the first to catch it and just seeing it in all its greatness, only to explode

It would be a great joke if the Boulder had never existed at all.

Devs make a series of fake accounts, post "I found the Magic Boulder!" Repeat every few weeks.

Damn...I've been found out! And I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you meddling kids and your dog.
