Edit - after 3 years I come back and this extremely shiity old part that nobody wanted is no longer available on the file place where I put it and it doesnt work in the current version anyway. This is a note to myself to update it and upload it to a more permanent location.

Yup! Not everything in KSP needs to be super-realistic. Sometimes it's fun to just have fun with crazy and fanciful ideas.

kingtutn, fine up to now, but this thread can only be about the part you modelled (being in Add-On Releases). If you wish to write about the novel and others may show their interest about that, the best is to open another thread in KSP Fan Works.

Looks funny! Maybe you want to smooth out the edges, or is that as you want it? If not, when you are using Blender, go to the tools tab, and hit the "Smooth" button under shaders. Then, go to the modifiers tab right, and add an Edge Split modifier. That makes it looking nice and smooth.

That's actually pretty cool. Like Kartoffelkuchen said, with some smooth shading and edge split modifier, it will look even better!

Ideally, I'd like it to be worse. I'd like it to be uneven, with cracks between the panels, joins visible.

Originally, I was only going to have four sides. Its supposed to look "home made" as opposed to made by people who know what they're doing. Like the very first effort of people who'd never done this before.

Maybe the hatch could have been smoothed, but otherwise its pretty much how it is supposed to be, shabby peeling paintjob and all.

Have you ever considered making an Apollo direct lunar ascent/descent vehicle? That is something I want to see, and it's very much like this.
