So... Anybody see that SpaceX abort?

The rocket is designed (and i believe the Saturn V was the same) to fire its engines for a few seconds before the rocket is released form the pad. In that time sensors can tell the flight computer if everything is working alright with the engines, and if it isn\'t, abort the launch, like what happened here.

Doesn\'t it have full engine-out capability? I remember reading something very specific about this.

Yeah, it can burn the remaining engines for a longer period if one goes out mid-flight.

They aren\'t going to launch even if they detect one as faulty, though.

And since this mission is so long (2 separate rendezvous with the station) the slower orbital insertion means they\'d miss the window anyway.

Yea, after months of setting a new launch date for the Dragon COTS 2, there can\'t still launch a Spacecraft to the ISS. Sorry but I trust now SpaceX for 0,0000000000001%.

Also, can we not ask whats the next \'\'problem\'\' for the Falcon-9 And/or the Dragon?

I probably already know, there will be a fuel line error causing the rocket to explode.

I wouldn\'t be surprised if that was true. Most commercial spacecraft companies have a lot of errors in there designs. The only thing that\'s different with this is the fact that NASA is allowing them to dock with the ISS.

SpaceX has had fuel line issues before. Their first few launches had problems. But they did successfully put Dragon into orbit in 2010. This kind of stuff happens. It\'s happened to NASA on the Shuttle and the first attempt at Gemini 6. In fact, this was eerily similar to Gemini 6.

If they would have launched, the risked the flight. At worst, the rocket would explode.

I stayed up all night, and I was very disappointed to see an abort. Oh well, I guess I\'ll be really tired for school on tuesday :)

I fell asleep at like 12:00 AM, set an alarm for 3:30 AM searched for NASA TV on my guide, found out it wasn\'t on our cable. I\'m still mad that they have every other science channel but NASA TV.

Do you know how many Space Shuttle flights got delayed? A lot of them.

well good thing they\'ve proven that the abort system on-board is working.

Otherwise it\'ll be a failure of Kerbal proportions :P
