Career custom... I can't live without quickload/quicksave because it is still to unstable. and I had to tweak the rewards a littlebit because if you use RT you have extra costs for creating the communication infrastructure

Career is basically "grind mode". The early stages can be a challenge, but it gets boring quickly.

So Sandbox.

I agree, except i like the contracts. It gives me something to do. I wish there was some way for users to make in-game challenges/contracts, which can automatically limit funds, parts, ship size etc...

Career Moderate, with no reverts, and Kerbal Construction Time. I "sim" with KCT, so I test things before the "live" launch, and I have to live with the "live" results.

As Dizzle said, I like my program to have a sense of history, so sandbox always feels a bit odd to me. And, as arkie said, I like having "quests" and "goals," and contracts give that to me. I'm using the Contract Pack: Kerbin Space Station to make my space station contracts more interesting.

KCT nicely reduces the career grind by giving you the option to convert "build points" for your vessels into science. In other words, you can get trickle science just by making stuff. KCT's pace also gives my program a sense of history. I landed on the Mun in year 2, and now in year 4 I'm just starting my launches to Duna. Toss in Final Frontier, and I've got a nice little story.

I prefer Science. It involves some level of progress, while I don't have to worry about picking filler missions just to make money to pay for silly random experiments I want to do myself. I haven't finished even a single Kerbal day in career mode, so maybe there's some "daily grant" that I haven't encountered yet, but getting stuck from running out of money just isn't appealing to me. I like the idea of career mode, and wished more of its components were available in sience mode. Maybe through a different set of missions or something, to enable mission-control and the various levels of buildings, but without the monetary management.

I started KSP when beta 0.9 was released. I found Carrer quite hard for beginners. Science mod is much more adapted to new players. Now I'm quite easy with Carreer (as it seems to have bee balanced a bit)
