The Dragster Challenge!

Recommended Posts

EDIT: so i can hit 500+(520 in this case) and successfully stop with room to spare, but the end flight numbers are screwy. i think my dragster is rotating kerbin backwards.

I noticed that, when doing a 'Restart Flight', the indicated speed will spike temporarily as everything resets. Unfortunately, this gets recorded as an actual speed reached by the craft. I can show 'top speeds' of well over 3km/s that way.

(Also, superD, hitting 'F1' in game takes a screenshot of just the KSP window, and saves it in the 'KSP/Screenshots' folder for you. Alternately, Alt+PrntScrn in Windows will take a screenshot of just the active window and stash it on the clipboard.)

I think I\'ve figured out how to use SRBs safely for this challenge - my guess is it\'ll manage high 200s m/s.

This would definitely be competitive for a stock version of the challenge.

Would I be right in saying that the wheels are a main source of speed limitation, as the sled managed to go so much faster?

how is that a valid speed if your craft hasnt stopped on the end of the runway?

the OP isn\'t updating the leaderboards anyway. which is unfortunate, since i had alot of fun doing this.

I\'m not sure whether this fits the rules or not: no parts came off without staged separation, at the end, to jettison all the engines for a 1-parachute stop of just the capsule (the jettisoned engines subsequently crashed, as expected/intended).

267m/s with stock parts.
