[UNRESOLVED] Ambient temperature

Before 1.0, I could simply get the the ambient temperature from the part temperature. After 1.0, part temperature is affected by the new heat model, which makes it unreleiable to get temperature readings. Are there any reliable ways to readout the external temperature, like a thermometer would give?

Have you tried the following? (note: I don't actually know what the difference will be between these)

part.externalTemperature
vessel.externalTemperature
vessel.atmosphericTemperature

If those don't work, there is a lot of temperature related data in vessel.mainBody that you should be able to calculate it from (remembering temperature varies with altitude, latitude, sun exposure, etc.)

I though temperature sensor calculate the temperature but it appears it does nothing but display part temperature.

vessel.atmosphericTemperature will give the ambient temperature. You don't need any special parts.

externalTemperature is shock temperature (i.e. the same as static ambient if there is no shockwave, or much hotter if there is).

atmosphericTemperature is static ambient temperature.
