EDIT:

Forgot to credit the makers of the parts of this patch:

Kerbin & Duna: Kerbal Wiki.

Mun: A forumer who made an HD render of KSP's planets using in-game textures.

KSP Logo: KSP.

Circles: Google images search.

What might be neat is some kind of daily status report. At the end of the day, we all just say where we are in the process, what's done, what's being worked on, what issues we've found, etc.

That could be interesting, I'll give that a try today!

Looks decent man. If I were to make one I would make it similar to the actual mission badges though.

I mean, I would just use the official ones for my pack.

Thanks, I'm thinking of changing the font.

Well, I'm getting started on my Cargo lander, and I feel like I have no place to start! There seem to be no good references for it! How are you guys/gals building it?

This is tricky.. How much like the real one do you want to look? It's a lot easier to approximate the shape as I did the first time.

I'm thinking of getting it very close, maybe to the level of your Altair.

OK, think ahead when building it. Try to treat it like a real craft. Start with a frame and add to that. I got close to the real shape by doing that.

It wont be a very close comparison in terms of scale as they would end up being much larger than 3 meter parts so you will have to make allowances for that. How big is your SPR?

I'm going to build my SPR around my lander.

I found this image, from a dev thread for a mod which would add constellation parts:

I'm waiting on my lander still, I decided to take a break until I get more inspiration for it and in the meantime I'm working on the DTV. It's looking very sweet if I say so myself.

I saw that pic to! Looking good man. I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks!

I can't wait to see!

I noticed a error in the video with the landers, after the cargo and crew modules arrive at mars, the NTRPPs separate from the modules, before they have entered orbit! This makes sense for the cargo lander, because it aerobrakes to landing, but the crew module next shows up magically in martian orbit! Does anyone know what really would have happened?

Does the SPR go in the cargo, or crew lander?

LOL I noticed that too! They also would not be that close to each other during the trip!

There is one in each.

MRS:

Today I worked on my Cargo lander, mostly.

First I built the frame, then I began work on the Duna crew ascent vehicle.

The CAV seems to have enough delta-v to dock to the DTV, but it hasn't been tested yet. The CAV tends to catch on the Cargo lander frame, but that should be easy to fix.

Lookin' good MRS! You definitely have the shape down. I don't think we've seen your DTV, either..

That's because I don't have one yet.

Nice! I will be stealing that airbrakes as ramps trick. ;)

EDIT:

Isn't that the crew engine config, and isn't the DAV on the cargo lander?

FSPS stands for Fission Surface Power System, in other words, RTGs. It would provide all of the power for the martian base, and would be driven 1km away from the touchdown location by the DIPS power cart.

For those of you interested in a detailed description of the constellation base systems, look no further:

http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/373665main_NASA-SP-2009-566.pdf

It includes, interestingly, a section on "Public Engagement Strategy".

MRS, I'm having trouble with Kronal Vessel Viewer, and I know you use it. When I try to open it, it just flickers an image of the craft and won't allow ne to tweak any of the settings or take a photo. Did you ever have this problem?
