Not sure if this technically belongs here since a) it could be regarded as another snack and there's no actual recipe or foodstuff involved. However, rather like the junk, I offer SRCs as another possible source of inspiration for creating recipes from the ingredients we have.

More of a den than an office, thought Sherfel as she took in the scuffed chairs, the low, shop-worn table, and the refrigerator under the desk. She stared at the picture of the Mün rising over Kerbin, a shiver running up her spine. Except for that. Surely that has to be the original, and dear Kerm, being the first ones to see that view out of your window….

“Take a seat folks, and help yourselves to whatever you want.â€Â

The table was laden with fruit, a full jug of very fresh-smelling coffee, a tray of hot rolls, and a plate of bite sized, mud coloured cubes. Sherfel stared at them curiously as she bit into a roll. Ornie noticed them too.

“More of Derny’s experiments, Jeb?â€Â

Jeb helped himself to a roll. “Yep. SRCs, version…whatever number he’s up to now. Not quite as good as version six, but I’d still pack ‘em for the journey.†He gestured at James. “Go ahead - they taste a lot better than they look.â€Â

James took a cautious bite from his cube. A surprised look crossed his face, and he took another one from the plate. “Hey - these are pretty good - but what are they?â€Â

“Savoury Ration Cubes,†said Ornie. “Space rations. Derny figured that giving ‘em letters would make them sound more like proper kerbonaut supplies. Not to be confused with Sweet Ration Cubes, Spare Ration Cubes or Surprise Ration Cubes - Derny hasn’t really got the hang of acronyms yet.â€Â

“And never, ever to be confused with Spicy Ration Cubes,†added Jeb. He winced. “The snack that only Lucan could love - and he’s been destroying his palate with smoky sapwood for Kerm knows how long.â€Â

Ornie lifted his hands defensively. “Don’t blame me,†he said. “I just told him that food can taste a bit bland in zero-g. I didn’t know he’d take it as a personal challenge.â€Â

I suspect that SRCs would have been from the pre-SPICE days - in the context of my savegame, this would have been the Kerbal 1 to 7one-man missions (KY 506), as well as early KES-MPCV / Kerbal Spacelab program (KY 507).

SPICE as an organization would have been founded some time after the KES-21 launch failure incident, and SPICE-accredited food items would only have been first available to Kerbalnauts in the upcoming FusTek-based Kerbal Space Station program (KY 508).

Cool. No need to include SRCs on the list then. And oddly enough, that sort of fits with my fanon too. From later in that same conversation that I quoted earlier:

James chose a slice of redfruit. “I think I’ll stick to spicy SRCs,†he said dryly. He raised an eyebrow at Sherfel. “We should ask Ademone to hire a chef for the Rockomax crews though.â€Â

“Oh, Derny’s not really a chef,†said Wernher. “He was one of the rocket-spotters as a matter of fact. Until he managed to talk Jeb into giving him a job.â€Â

So yeah, definitely pre-SPICE, or its equivalent.

Each ration packet contains one (1) bottle of Winter-Ice shaving gel/ice cream, two (2) portions of nutritious dust, and a tube of unknown green seaweed-based paste. Recommended to be consumed with at least 500 ML of water and some alcohol to help ignore the bad taste. Recommended way to consume is to swalow the entire package in one go, as the plastic tastes better than the contents.

'Spang!' Dehydrated Concentrated Lanternberry simulation juice fluid thing

Lanternberries are a legendary fruit, rumored to be found at the center of the earth and capable of granting eternal life. None have been successfully recovered, and they have become a synonym for a investment scam. However, this delicious, mostly arsenic free powder is a accurate simulation of their taste (read: blind guess). This powdered beverage is popular with children and astronauts. This version comes in a thin foil pouch, and needs water to be added in. There is a new variant using a small vial of hydrazine to create the water inside of the bag, but this has been rejected by mission control, due to the lack of tastiness. And nothing else.

GROSS (Great Recyclable Orbital Sustenance System)(Gell)

GROSS is a set of foods contained in several packets that has been so ubiquitous in the space program since its early day that it has created a word. The name was originally ROSS, but after it became very well known to the public the name was changed to GROSS to try to make it seem tastier (And totally not after a payment of funds under the table by the company that made them who wanted to sell them to the public). The packages are usually only used for emergency rations now, because the little bits of food suspended in nutritious gel compact incredibly well and can be recycled to store other things.

Even if dead, smuggled avians are unlikely to be properly processed for spaceflight, and may still contain pathogens.

If this Pruke had been properly processed under SPICE oversight, then it wouldn't need to be smuggled in the first place.

It was smuggled because the kerbals knew it wouldn't be allowed because the weight cut into the (Nonexistent) saftey margin. (My justification for running out of fuel aprox. 1m above the surface)

Bleek - Equivalent to sheep on Kerbin, used for anything beef can be used, including hamburgers. Especially popular in Medwedia and in the northern parts of Kerbin.

- Bleek ribs, grilled (ribs of any animal are good because they can easily be eaten by hand, just like chicken wings)

- Bleek steak, grilled (avaliable in medium or well done versions, maybe cut up so that the pieces can be eaten by hand or with a spork)

- Bleek stew (Pieces of boiled bleek meat with karrots and other vegetables)

We should also add food that is suitable for eating in low and medium gravity environments. It will be more "normal" since you can set up a table inside a colony dome on Mun or on Duna and even eat a picknick on Laythe without relying on refrigerated or ionized zero-G paste.

Bleek steak and Bleek stew sounds good. I was tempted to call it Baar as well, but that would have been a bit too obvious.

Ribs of meat are generally ill-suited for spaceflight, due to the resulting waste from the bones.

We should also add food that is suitable for eating in low and medium gravity environments. It will be more "normal" since you can set up a table inside a colony dome on Mun or on Duna and even eat a picknick on Laythe without relying on refrigerated or ionized zero-G paste.

All food items listed in the OP are already suitable for consumption in low-gravity environments.

Only meat-based items need irradiation, and there are no paste-based foodstuffs in the list.

Don't forget Kerby Krisps, those delicious pocket of crunchy goodness in their shiny purple wrappers.

Would sukaree be pronounced sucre? If so, it sounds a lot like sweet in French.

In fact, every time i try to prounonce sukaree in french i'm saying "sukar" or "sugar" !
