Contracted Space Programme - Career without bulding any craft

I think I added more solar panels so I wouldn't have to worry about pointing it to the sun.

Ah right, seems logical. Also note that you can disable the crossfeed of the battery of the probe core. In this way you always have some spare EC.

But thanks for pointing this out!

Wow, somebody actually used the Stonewall? XD

Glad it worked out OK for you. I've got a really swell 2 person Minmus biome-hopper that you can use once you get your VAB and launch pad upgraded to Tier 2. It doesn't require anything beyond tech level 90, but the current launcher design costs a pretty penny- about 150,000 Funds. Most of that is due to me using a "Falkon 9" cluster for the core stage (nine LVT-30s) plus some ghetto LFBs made out of yet more LVT-30s. If you want, I can easily upgrade those LVT-30s to single Skippers.

Also, given the amount of probe work you seem to be doing, I'd like to suggest you use the SCANsat and Dmagic Orbital Science mods. They're what I'm running on my current career, and I highly reccomend them. Makes probes actually useful, and SCANSat's orbital scan function has saved me from accidentally landing on a slope many a time. Not to mention both are huge fun...

Blue, I don't normally publish such, but because this idea of yours is so cool if you see a Kerbfleet craft you want to try out just let me know and I'll make it available. Besides the famous Hummlebee we have several crew transport and utility SSTOs, mining vehicles such as the Ore Piggie, and the Minmus Outbound orbital refinery.

Yeah, the Stonewall's now my standard 1 kerbal manned craft, It's cheap and easy to fit with rcs and science kit.

I have recently got the VAB and pad to tier 2 and I think in a few contract's time I will have to go to minmus, so that biome hopper will be useful. As to mods, I'm not sure I want to make the career overly modded, partly for RAM reasons, but SCANsat and Orbital Science seem fun and non-game-changing enough that I might add them soon.

Awesome, from reading Duna, Ore Bust (which is awesome, btw) the Hummlebee looks great and I think as soon as I go to Duna (probably quite a while away though) I'm going to want to have it for when I need to establish a base.

Part 6: First Docking

Javascript is disabled. View full album

Using two Stonewalls on Z-MAP launchers since the Holst's TWR margins were so tight, Jeb and Val are launched into LKO. On the first launch the upper stage engine, meant to be released before circularization to avoid debris, stayed active, and ran away on it's own.

Rendezvous Docking were quick and painless despite lack of patched conics.

Completing a contract for a Survey satellite in HKO, using a craft based on the Telstar Auriga chassis. I needed a launcher with a bit more TWR and Delta V than the Holst launcher I had been using, so used a stock Z-MAP launcher, which turned out to be very capable. Also another LKO satellite contract using a Pyxis SR.

Also struggling with a deceptively difficult kerbin seismic survey contract in the mountains west of KSC. Since 1.0.3 the Aeris 3A and the utility planes I've been using just don't have the STOL performance to land on the short, sloped landing areas available, and one of the Aeris 3A's crashed trying (Jeb was fine).

Alright, you didn't exactly ask for it, but here's a good low-tech-level Mun lander. (Requires a Tier 2 VAB and launchpad.) And as for the Minmus biome hopper.... it's gone. Suddenly, mysteriously gone. Oh, well, at least my own career game isn't much more advanced than yours- I've got a Minmus landing I need to do, so I'll make the design again, just even better this time.

Awesome, this will save me a lot of trouble looking for a suitable lander on the forums, it's right in the reasonable size/cost bracket for what I will need.

hmm,  I might make a minimus hopper for this program.

Did you notice that the thread had been inactive for 2 1/2 years? Might want to find out if he is still doing it.

it is a pretty neat idea, I may do something like this for my stream in the future.
