One minor issue, the module adapters done support KIS, I wanted to add my carbon generator, so I put it on an rover and drove it to the rack module. Kerbal is an level 3 engineer with tools and was able to atatch it to the docking port at the end.

No its not just my moded module but the others to and its not the top mounted probe and reaction wheel as I tried after removing them then put them back.

Its not an huge issue however the racks looks perfect for swapping out modules and makes everything look tidy, almost as it should support swapping without tools.

Hmm i never really tried that out. As far as i know there is nothing that should prevent them form being attached by KIS. I will have a look at that.

Update:

I just tried it out and it works like it should:

What i can see from your image: The container you try to attach has the wrong orientation. The "console" that is seen on the red part at the top should be at bottom front.

First off! Love the mod! I've already landed parts on the mun for my base and everything worked great! Followed your pictures for tips on landing.

My question, or rather my problem, is that I can't seem to find the science lab module. I wonder if I don't have the same issues as those who posted about the cupola. I'm currently at work, so I can't list all my mods, but I've been using community tech tree along with a slew of others. Also, when I installed the mod through ckan I had already unlocked vast parts of the tech tree.

Can anyone give me some direction or tips on what could be happening? Base doesn't feel complete without a science lab ;)

Found it, its an issue in KSP that sometimes attachment nodes disappear, You see it often in VAB then removing stacks. With KIS they come back with some messing around.

There is the temptation yes. At least for the parts that shouldn't have had an airlock from the beginning. Like habitats, greenhouse and the science lab. But the hatches won't be removed directly after 1.0.5 is released, there will probably be many who still have 1.0.4 in the first week(s) and they would'nt have a chance to remove a kerbal from a part then.

One major issue here is that the rescue kerbal from orbit will use random modules, I just got your lab in Mun orbit.

Its however possible that you might exit but not enter, think emergency exit or sally port.

The science-lab module is in the Long Term Science Tech Node of the Techtree. Can you see it in there?

I doubt that you have the same problem that ppl have/had with the cupola. The problem occurred because an update of this mode moved the parts in the techtree. As i understand you, you installed this mod the first time right?

If you can't find see the science-lab in the named node, could you provide the KSP.log file? If there is a problem that prevents the part from appearing it might be logged in there.

You are right. That would be a major issue i already had to solve when the only hatch was on the side and obstructed when the part was spawned in space. Totally forgot about that. I think i will leave it as it is for now.

PS: I didn't know that the 'lost' attach-node bug would also appear with KIS. I have been messing around with the new modular corridors that will come and it seems that KPS sometimes does not remove the reference to a part from a node when it is detached. Looks like a race-condition to me. Hopefully this will be fixed by Squad.

Ok, I'll take another look at the tech tree when I get home and yes I installed the mod maybe a week ago but never used any parts until Sunday. I'll check the tech tree and see if the log has anything to say. I looked at the ckan install, or atleast what I believe is what ckan is telling me what it installed and it appears the module is installed. Thanks for the pointers.

Well I did some looking, the lab isn't in that branch of the tech tree. I looked through the ksp.log, but I didn't seen anything that was helpful (so much text), I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. How do I go about uploading my log?

Weird.

You could use DropBox if you have that. Another way would be that you send it to me as plain text in a PM.

---Edit---

You could also use one of the file-hosting sites, like e.g. FileDropper or similar.

When there is something to show, i will do

While I wholeheartedly agree on having the 'extra doors' dispensed with now that we have 'proper' ones, I can't help but feel that the extra hatches on the science/greenhouse/habitats are justifiable - they make pretty good emergency exits in case of door failure or needing bespoke roof access. :)

Note that even the Hitch-hiker stock part does have a doorway. Presumably they're less convenient than using proper airlocks for routine operations; but it'd be odd to have parts that hold kerbals with literally no escape.

I always has the feeling that the larger stock parts has room for airlocks, hitchhiker module, science lab and the MK3 cockpit and passenger module. The MK3 is pretty much like an shuttle crew compartment and it had an airlock, The MK3 passanger module is large enough to have three decks and we only see one.

Perhaps also the MK2 landing can and the cupola module as both has far more space than needed.

Else the base airlocks has the benefit of KIS storage and room for one kerbal more something who can be nice for contracts.

Alright, expect a PM sometime this evening ;) or Dropbox, I think I still have an active account.

Oh, I'm a big fan of the 'proper' airlocks now that we have them; they're neat :)

I was more commenting that we don't really need to remove the 'emergency access' into and out of the habs/greenhouse/science station in the process.

(Personally, I tend to just use the doors on the cupola and command modules out of habit, but the airlocks are pretty spiffy when you want a tidy endcap.)

No, they will be released at the same time. I don't want to have a part again that is not fully finished, especially when this mod will be "released" with the next big update.

Is it too late to request an end segment that holds 1 or 2 of your modules? It could have landing gear panels, too, for really utilitarian base segments. :)

Are you at least going to show us a model?

I will at least show an image of the part. When the time is right (aka it is finished).

I will consider adding adding another end segment

Well here you go:

http://i.imgur.com/jFvSlqx.png

There is not really much to see yet. There are still many things missing...e.g. details, textures etc.

Nice, looks far better than the previous mockup, more like I imagined, an control center on top of the 4 way hub.

Part of me want something higher more like an small air traffic tower. Pehaps have it in two parts so we can stuff an hitchhiker in the middle for more height.
