Xannari Ferrows
Three dots are a typical sign of a depression. When used sparingly, they hint the reader to draw a conclusion to the statement themselves. When used in abundance, however, they hint to the person's brooding personality. Emos are easily recognized by the abundance of three dots in their posts.Triple dots have no psychological basis at all... They're just there for effect, like a drawn out pause between sentences when someone has nothing to reply. I use the triple dots very often, so does that make me depressed? No... Not even close... See?Although its' use is primarily awkwardness, it can also be utile in breaks between statements ranging from person to person, or perhaps even to skip ahead in an event. One of it's other primary uses is to create awkward moments which I love doing....Um, that's it really. I can't think of anything else...In all honesty, I can say I've never heard, nor seen an example of your claim, so I can safely say it is a coincidence.EDIT: Also, I guess sarcasm and stuff... Just something else I do in my spare time... Edited July 3, 2015 by Xannari Ferrows
kiwi1960
Good, now re-read your own post. In the parts where you talk about your conditions and life, you use a lot of triple dots. When it gets to the more cheerful, positive part, you use less triple dots and more exclamation marks.I hope you now see what I mean by perspective Dude, I was trying to use less dots to silence you... didn't work, did it... LOL.... but you have made me smile... and I'm happy because... I... just... proved... you... wrong... ...
Mipe
Triple dots have no psychological basis at all..Abundance of triple dots is a pretty reliable symptom of psychological issues. I would know, I once abused them as well as well as frequented forums where I could witness plenty of those cases. There's a pretty high correlation between depression and usage of ellipsis (as is the correct term for triple dots). Note that depends heavily on context of the usage, such as " ... and?" is confrontational, "No..." is resigning, most uses are simply trailing sentences off.And that trailing sentences off when they're pretty much complete already? "I guess...", "Yeah..." etc., this reeks of depression."Yeah...""Yeah."Yeah!"You can feel the differences, can't you? Try and change your writing style. When I did so, I was positively surprised by the shift in mood.- - - Updated - - -Dude, I was trying to use less dots to silence you... didn't work, did it... Xannari Ferrows
"I guess...", "Yeah..." etc., this reeks of depression.Sounds like sarcasm to me...Examples:I guess... Want me to pick up your dry cleaning to?Yeah... You totally nailed it... Great job, [Redacted]As far as I've ever heard, they're just thematic. Punctuation can influence how one imagines a sentence being said, but that does not equate to what they feel, but instead what you want to perceive. Can you read this question sadly? I could be saying that with tears in my eyes about to die, but I can't project that feeling with punctuation. Emotions can't travel through text. Mipe
They can't travel through text, but the writing style can hint to them. Just as if you can tell if someone is happy or sad by looking at them (well, most of them, at least), you can also tell quite a bit about a person from the way they write or talk. Just as if you can tell if someone is happy or sad by looking at them (well, most of them, at least), you can also tell quite a bit about a person from the way they write or talk. This is why it's important to add variety to your speech patters. If something is said in the same way throughout an entire message, it can be read in many different ways. For example, I find it possible to read the first sentence of this message 12 different ways, each of them making sense, but some tones being contradictory. kiwi1960
This is how I see it... a dramatic pause.THERE... up in the sky... do you see it?without them.....Up there, in the sky, do you see it."The difference is, the person saying it in the first line pauses for effect! THERE (waits, till he has your attention) up in the sky (waits till you look at the sky) do you see it? (now that he has your attention, and is looking at the sky, asks if you see it!)Its classically used in comics... and in some cases, books.been around since.... oh... I dunno... the year dot! Salmon
Play stock at least every once in a while - it's very refreshing just to stop and use the intended features of the game. It's also easier to play, since there are no modded features to worry about.

That's as may be, but since the original poster was writing four years ago, they've presumably long since moved past whatever KSP issues they may have had back then, and further discussion on the point is moot. Locking the thread to prevent further confusion. (Also, some content has been removed due to necromoaning. Folks, please don't.
