2 bugs that are really annoying me

Recommended Posts

This is my second thread so please patience ^^

I'm trying to construct spaceplanes and its harder now on the last build.

But theres some bugs that are getting on my nervers:

1st.: I CANT change the action of the airbrake. no matter what.

After you changed the action on the action group, they change back to the standart

2nd.: Fuel is crossfeeding even when i conect he tanks with structures

that are described as "no fuel crossfeed".

What do you guys think about it and how could i dodge it??

thanks anyway ^^

I agree that the first one is annoying.

The second one is intended behavior, airbreathing engines ignore crossfeed rules. Crossfeed only applies to rocket engines (other than the Rapier and Puff). If you want to keep certain tanks full you can disable them in the right click menu either in the editor or in flight.

Hi Capt. Spiff, you can set the extend and retract, but toggle is broken, also the Airbrakes.cfg contains this line...

defaultActionGroup = Brakes

Feel free to mess with it.

As for the fuel feed, jets use stage priority and "all vessel", so they can draw fuel from anywhere but should take from stuff like droptanks first, experiment with tanks on decouplers.

Also, moving to gameplay Q's :)

I really wish you could toggle fuel feed for tanks with action groups. I keep very few planes (and rockets) that don't require fuel management on accent.

You can toggle brakes by clicking their icon near the altimeter. Just look for the one that lights up when you push the key.

Claw’s bug-fixing addon fixes that.

You can lock certain tanks by pressing a tiny button to the right of the fuel level gauge in the right click menu. Works both in editor and in flight.

It's a tradeoff. This behavior is really useful for vessels where you don't want the CoM changing dramatically, mostly planes (which is why it is only airbreathers that have this property). If you are staging it should only drain from the tanks in the lower stages, assuming the root part is in an upper stage. More specifically, it determines which stage a tank is in by counting the number of decouplers between the tank and the root part.

but if i lock the fuel, ill have to stage and unlock at the same time, pretty stupid =/

You don't have to lockout oxidizer on any of the tanks since jets don't use it. Also, you could unlock only one tank's LF, stage, and then unlock the rest when you have time. If SAS is engaged you should be able to start unlocking the rest of the tanks right after you stage. Not the best fix but it's doable.

Careful there, a Rapier in closed cycle mode will happily drain oxidizer from tanks in the same way a jet draws liquid fuel.

True, but from his pic, he's using turbo jets and aerospikes. Good point on the Rapiers though.
