After much trial, tribulation, and testing, I present the successor to the CF-59 Naga, the CF-63 Empress. I went through something like over a dozen different aircraft designs before I decided on this one.  Both my aircraft are the same model but one has two 20mm cannons and the other only has one. I took inspiration from the SU-37 and MiG-29 when making this, and I think it turned out pretty well. Please tell me if I need to change anything. Turning on the AI autopilot is done by pressing "0" then spacebar.

Submission inspected and accepted.  I used the offset tool to move the swept wings one increment upward to resolve the clipping as depicted here.  I can't tell you how good it is to see a submission from a fresh player, especially a good one!  I pray it does well, and that you'll stick around for more tournaments in the future.  Best wishes!

Actually your revisions to my original craft are acceptable, i would like to add a different 2nd craft however.

I'll allow it if you'd like me to, but with your permission, I would prefer to deploy this plane as a separate team in order to fill out slots in the tournament.  If I do that, it will be fighting your other submission in the first round.  Is this alright with you?  If we get enough submissions that doing this isn't necessary, then I will replace your second plane with this one.

If you want I have another fighter that I can enter that fits the rule of no clipping wings and such ... Here's some pics of the M230 variant

Same goes to you.

I don't want the aircraft to look like that, I'd rather just make a different one and not submit that aircraft, if that's fine.

Works for me.

You're welcome to if you like.

I personally believe you'd have an easier time editing the relatively minor clipping out of the Empress while retaining aesthetic integrity than starting again from scratch.  Maybe putting a second pair of swept wings underneath the first one, offset a degree down relative to the way the original pair were attached, would make it look more appealing?  You are free to do design a new plane if you would prefer, just as long as your submission comes in before February 1st.

I don't like the way wing stacking looks, and i'm the kind of person that obsesses over the way their planes look. If it's not flush, it'll just trigger my OCD, rather just make a new plane entirely.

Umm....as anybody updated BDArmory to version 0.10 yet? If any of us has, we are going to have to rethink our planes and strategies.
The AI is WAY different, enough that the plane's flight characteristics may or may not help us.

Off-the-cuff changes I've noticed:

-Physics has been extended to 5000 metres
-gun range that the AI uses to determine whether or not to fire has a adjustment. Can go from nil to around 8000 metres.
-There is a minimum engagement speed, an idle speed, a maximum speed
-The Missiles (not pertinent to our tournament) has fire rate adjustments (would help with suicides by slapping into the missiles)

Maybe we should get updated, let CreativeCombat have a look and let us all agree on parameters for the tournament.

@CreativeCombat: I'm pulling out my planes until I can get a chance to really examine the new AI system. Sorry.

I'm using the version I installed when the tournament began, rather than the new one.

As you like it.  Just be mindful that the cutoff date is February 1st.

I know it says no mods, but does it use Ferram Aerospace in the matches?

This tournament does not use FAR for its simulations because reality is a female dog

That just makes it more challenging and fun. I think B9 and FAR should be allowed.

Where do you put up designs? I see other people's for download, but how do I do that?

Then perhaps you should go to the FAR Fighter Challenge or the Advanced Superiority Fighter challenge if you want to use FAR

Oh, there are others?

As you can tell from my title, I'm new here.

Yes, but there shouldn't be seeing as this is supposed to be a compilation thread.  I blame OP for being inactive.

Stock and BDArmory only, no B9.  Designing a fighter in FAR for a competition that's being held with stock aerodynamics would not be a good idea, though I can't stop you from doing so.  Submit designs by whatever means necessary, Dropbox, Media fire, KerbalX, whatever works.  I prefer dropbox or media fire.

Read the rules on page 51 very, very carefully before you make your submission.

It also will have to be submitted BEFORE FEBRUARY 1ST ACCORDING TO PACIFIC STANDARD TIME, or it won't fly in this tournament.

If you'd like tips and tricks on how to build a good plane, I'd highly recommend watching the last tournament that was run.

I saw the MediaFire and DropBox thing, what I meant was how do I do that so you can get it?

Similar to how you would install a mod.  First, create the craft.  Then go to your KSP_Win folder, the same way you got to GameData when you were installing BDArmory, and go to Saves.  Then go to the save you created the ship in, open the "Ships" folder, open the "SPH" folder, select the craft file of the ship you created, copy it, publicize it through any of the file sharing methods described above.  Then post the link in the thread as per "Tournament Submission Guidelines" on page 51.  Do make sure you've included a picture with your post.  You can do that by pressing F1 while looking at the ship in the spaceplane hangar, then find that image by going to KSP_Win and going to "Screenshots".  Upload it to Imgur and post the link to the Imgur upload along with your craft file in the thread.  Also be sure to follow the naming conventions outlined on Page 51.

Thank you for your interest.  Good luck.
