Need help for rover, first time builder (Video Included)

Recommended Posts

Need help on rover! I've no idea why the rover is pitching up and down instead of rolling forward and backward...It's very frustrating...

All reaction wheels' and probe cores' torque have been disabled. I've even tried putting a docking port inline with the forward direction of the rover and control from there, but still getting the same result...

I have tried using WASD, Shift and Ctrl or HNIJKL both in docking mode or staging mode, it didn't help at all. Is it related to the low mun gravity? However, that shouldn't make the probe pitching up and down I think, it should only cause the wheels spinning on their own? BTW, this is the first rover that I've bulit.

Many Thanks!!!

P.S. KSP Version 1.0.2/1.0.4, Rover was built with PackRat Rover frame and DMagic Science Instruments attached

Go into your key bindings in the settings page of the startup screen, and change the rover control keys (Whichever are currently assigned to WASD, it's fairly self-explanatory) to the arrow keys, and then come back to the craft and use the arrow keys to drive, and see if that is any better.

^^ Basically, that.

By default your "drive" keys are bound to the same set as your "translation" keys. So by pressing W, you are going forward, AND attempting to flip forward. The best solution, as stated above, is to re-bind some of those keys.

It's a lot more noticeable on Mun than Kerbin because A) no friction from atmosphere and B) significantly lower gravity.

Another solution is to make the rover flatter and longer, thus making it harder to flip. But that should only be a last resort, really.
