Demonstration of Acceleration in the ISS During a Reboost

Wow, nice. Never thought about how reboosts feel. Kinda amazing to think that the camera just tries to continue on the old orbital path, while the whole spacestation is changing it...

Well, if there was vacuum within ISS (to remove any interaction from the air conditioning system), any object left freefloating inside would have it's own orbit, even if ISS isn't using it's engines. If the object is closer to earth than the station's center of mass, the object would be faster than ISS :P

i always figured it was kind of one of those strap in and wait kinda things, requiring a 20 page checklist to make sure everything is stowed. im actually supprised they are allowed to screw around and make videos during the reboost.

I'm sure they do have a checklist of things to secure, but it's probably quite minimal, especially considering that the astronauts do not keep as clean a house as you'd think. NASA and everyone on the ground would love it if every panel was closed up, all the wiring nicely stowed away and everything all secured. In reality though, they are aware that there is only so much BS they can insist the crew devote time to before they sort of have a "I need fun" mutiny. So while they do schedule an hour or so for it now and then, generally speaking it's the first thing to go from the schedule if they need a break.

Having people on watch at the most obvious places like the place where this experiment was carried out makes more sense.

Long distance to fall and plenty of stuff equipment places, another tricks would be to do an small pre burn to catch stuff, or simply have ground watch cameras and abort.

Actually that does happen and it's called microgravity. One of the reasons there's lots of velcro around.

Actually, although it looks like my teenager bedroom, the location of pretty much every item and piece of equipment is tracked by mission control. They know exactly how many towels and waste bags are up there, as well as where they are. If someone needs a pair or pliers or a screwdriver, mission control can give the exact location.

So mission control is an analogue to a mother?

I watched astronaut Cristoforetti talking about this. No, mission control does not keep that level of babysitting. The crew does have a certain degree of liberty. :)

Well, Mission Control should know how much stuff is on the station, considering they control the routes on and off it.

Where all that stuff is is another matter. The snacks might be in the little cubby-hole in the cupola, or they might already be in Bob's stomach.
