Our Best Estimates in the study of Kerbals

I add this to the exhibit, I think this tells alot about their nature: http://www.kerbalcomics.com/2012/03/26/episode-five-arboreal-invaders/

Also, just for future reference on the reproduction subject

http://www.kerbalcomics.com/2012/03/11/episode-four-new-meat/

suggest a reproduction system similar to ours and that they are mammals. In reproduction, attraction is focused on the rear and it is theorized that breasts are a forward facing behind in terms of attraction.

As far as I know, Kerbal Comics is not canon. You can\'t really take that from a humorous fan comic. I am going to guess that Kerbals either reproduce by budding, or they grow on trees, because they always seem to come back.

Or use my idea.

Seems interesting. Considering, Kerbals are plants until further development. What I wan\'t to really know about is Kerbal evolution. There are grass, trees, and Kerbals. Where\'s the missing link?

Doubtless some sort of migratory bush.

I like the idea that someone posted a while back that Kerbals are intelligent (well...relatively speaking) tree seeds trying to die/plant themselves as far away from their mother trees as possible. Maybe the trees are also intelligent, and by agreement each tree can only have one seed in the space program at any given time. Thus, there is a tree somewhere named 'Jebediah' (Maybe a co-founder of the space program with 'Bob' and 'Bill' or somesuch) who sends one seed, called 'Jebediah Kerman' (where 'Kerman' is just a modifier that means 'seed of') to pilot a ship in the program. When that seed is killed without planting a new tree, Jebediah sends a new seed to take its place.

So that means the space program is based on the urge to propagate the genus, and the 'male' and 'female' are actually symbiotic species.

...the trees are also intelligent, and by agreement each tree can only have one seed in the space program at any given time...

I, for one, welcome our new arboreal overlords!

My theory of Kerbal evolution and why they care about space. Ancient Aliens! Nonsense aside, let\'s start from the beginning.

Plant life= Native to Kerbin. It evolved from bacteria and dirt long ago. Originally to grass, which some mutated and grew into bushes, and some off the bushes muted into trees.

Kerbals= Due to them being a male-only species so far, i have concluded that they may be a hive race, all birthed by a queen that reproduces with grass.

The queen= If she/it does exist, i believe it was a very very fat blob of stuff, that managed to crash on Kerbin. Thus they came from space, which sparks their interest in going to the moon and beyond.

Thus, it\'s not aliens, but it\'s aliens...

I\'d say Kerbals are hermaphrodites, if for no other reason than to stave of rule 34 for as long as possible :P

That\'s not going to forestall Rule 34.

But anyway, while on the surface the Kerbal species appears much like ourselves, they are aliens that evolved independently. Apart from similar adaptations for locomotion and tool manipulation, there is nothing to suggest kerbals have a biology that compares in any way to anything on Earth.

Well, I think we all agree that an average of 40-45 cm is good. I\'ll chock it up. Now, for weight, anyone?

I think we can presume that they are mostly water, like us, and therefore have a similar density to ourselves.

If someone would care to approximate their average volume based on average height and some guesstimates of the diameter of head and body (I would, but I am very tired and about to go to bed) then we can determine average mass.
