This glitch sometimes helps and sometimes annoys me.

Ok. I need to know. Is this known?

My plane is about to crash. I jump one of my kerbals out. Why?

Your about to see.

It falls. I turn on its jetpack and hold down shift to go up.

I keep falling.

My kerbal hits the ground, stands up like nothing just happens.

This all happens with no cheats on. Why is this happening?

Kerbals are sturdy. It sometimes a matter of survival to jump out of the craft right before the impact. Also it may sound counter-intuitive but landing a Kerbal head down has better chances for him to come out of this alive.

Whats weird is i do this from 4000 Feet and he still lives.

It's known, they can survive a fall from orbit as long as you're careful and they don't burn up, but don't rely on it as they are just as likely to go poof.

Also, moving to Gameplay Questions :)

Fixed unfortunate typo.

Stupid Kerbal Trick of the day: Take an EVA'd kerbal standing on the surface of Minmus, and send him home (all the way to Kerbin surface) all on his lonesome. No ship.

Not just doable, it's not even especially hard. Seems kinda wrong to me...

A lot of this probably has to do with the ludicrous TWR and DV of a kerbals MMU. And there's something rather fishy about kerbal collision physics in general... like flipping a 10 ton lander by bumping into it, or ragdolling and sliding along the ground for 5KM.

Being indestructible to boot wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Even in v1+? I've seen an EVAing Kerbal go poof at 60-ish km, while gently coming down from LKO, due to overheating, and that was just from LKO speed (not coming-back-from-Minmus speed).

I've also seen one go poof after stumbling and falling out of a cockpit only 3 or 4 meters up, but perhaps there it didn't drop head-first.

Then the entry was too shallow and he burned up for too long. Go steeper into the atmosphere and they will survive the landing.
