Space Race

Ok, recently, Voyager275 and I have challenged each other to a Space Race (exact goal to be decided later). To make things interesting, we are going to start out small, we are NOT allowed to use craft or rockets we have previously built, 30 days between launches, and reporting will differ between us. Each one of us will represent the US and one of us will represent the Soviet Union in the way we represent. First launches are scheduled for tomorrow.

We ask that you please pm either Voyager275 or myself of your intention to join. Those who have joined already are exempt from this rule. Also, we have decided to pair you off into a 1v1 races.

Sounding rockets were launched this morning. Sunlight 1 and 2.

Sunlight 1 went up first, but upon landing it's science payload exploded.

Sunlight 2 was the last sounding rocket, it's fins were angled to start a spin, unfortunately the science onboard suffered Sunlight 1's fate

FIRST SATELLITE! Horizon 1

Today Horizon 1 became the first satellite in Kerbin Orbit. PE:116,567 AP:258,530

Horizon 1 also broke the hearts of many sci-fi fans. There is no air in space, and the rocket needed more power than a cannon to reach orbit.

Ok, thirty days after the success of Eletin 1, The United Kerbal Union has successfully launched the first satellite equipped with solar panels into a 30 degree orbit, This mission successfully proves that solar panels can and will work in space.

We decided to switch the kind of satellites for fun!

btw, Tiros 1, Kerbin's first weather satellite is in orbit.

This satellite was launched aboard the very successful Astro II booster to an Apoapsis of 110 km on a 50 degree incline. it is expected to serve as a primary form of meteorology and better weather tracking for years to come.

First Mun Probe

Traveler 1 was sent towards the Mun. Unfortunately, a incorrect burn caused it to miss the Mun. It then fell back towards Kerbin and burned up. It did flyby the Mun and got what was named a "free return trajectory"

The probes planned tomorrow will be Traveler 2-4, and maybe a surprise mission. :)
