1.0.0: (dependent on stable(ish) version of Scatterer and EVE available)

  • Textures finalized
  • Configuration files finalized

1.1.0:

  • Jool rings redone
  • Additional features such as dust storms and snow storms added

1.2.0:

  • RSS colored version released (based on RVE development)
  • CityLight map redone

1.3.0:

  • Textures change to grayscale (for the most part) and colors are transitioned to EVE config control

Just a couple comments here... things that kind of stuck out. My two cents, nothing more.

I think you may have the ideas for 1.3 and 1.1/1.2 backwards. If you do things in that order, does it not make even more work for you when you convert the textures to greyscale? More things will have textures, which means more conversion, more tweaking in EVE, etc, than if you did that first (after 1.0, of course) and then only had to tweak the new ones to match, right? I could, of course, be way off, but if you know you are going to do the work anyhow, why not get it out of the way and done... perhaps while waiting for the stable versions of Scatterer and EVE anyhow?

Still looks good, still lovin' the pretties - just hoping to maybe save you some extra work later down the pipeline.

With the 1.2.0 version depending on the development of RVE (the work pingopete is doing for RSS which this mod is based on) it won't be difficult for me to push out that version because as soon as it's made available there in the RSS colors, I'll be able to do simple file name changes and have it work immediately (it'd be like a max of 10 minutes at most when I have the textures available from him). Now, if for whatever reason the development of RVE takes longer than I'm expecting (pingopete is coming back to work on it in a week though so I don't see why it would) I'd probably go ahead and overhaul the textures thus changing the roadmap.

whenever you decide to change to white textures, I will be very happy :D

except for Auroras, those can stay colored with "color = 1,1,1,1" in the cfg ;)

Oh I know you will be :sticktongue: Yeah, I've seen in other packs that aurora's always stay colored in-texture. Do you mean 255,255,255,255 though? Its on the 0-255 scale now, not 0-1 like it used to be.

As an FYI - This no longer appears on CKAN at all. Prob'ly intentional, thought I'd mention it anyway.

Second - how large of a memory footprint does this really add? I've noticed a significant number of memory related crashes since I started using this (MR version) that didn't use to be there, and I don't really run too much in the way of parts mods (Only KW, a pair of ballast tank mods, and DMagic) and a scattering of mods that add functionality (MechJeb, etc). I've had graphic overhauls like this in the past and not seen this, so I have to wonder how well optimized the textures are for the game.

Well all textures that can be are in the .dds format so they're as optimized as they're going to get. However, I don't know the exact amount of extra memory it adds as it's different for every person and depends on which graphics api you are using. I plan on doing benchmarks before the release version and have that information available to people who need it but I haven't had it add more than 2GB of RAM and that's on the UR version. As to the CKAN thing, I don't know what's going on with that. I've recently found out how to write the netkan files for CKAN so I'll be able to release official support for it once this is released as it is just doing whatever is done when you use Kerbal Stuff.

You don't need to download EVE separately, it's included in the download of SVE.

when i am say to host file aka you have this:

https://github.com/Nhawks1717/StockVisualEnhancements

make a new branch SVERSS (name how you want) & upload file what i will send there aka RVE from Pingo: texture & updated config file, most easy was was to send file to Pingo BUT from what i undestend he not have access to his pc soo noo mater if he get it will can't use, that i say to host temporary ... & i will say agen if Pingo he will be ok with this
way i am try to send file to you is simple 1. i use your config file like model 2. i use your Eve pack what is included with your pack becouse is a functional one 3. you already have aprove to use Pingo work in way or other
hope this time to undestend my point if not never mind for me is ok to let Pingo to came with a proper real release :) how i say all what i was try to doo is to help

I mean yeah, if you want to make a temporary fix for the RSS stuff with SVE thats fine.. I can host it for you temporarily. Pingopete did say he was going to be working on it in a week, a couple of days ago, so I'd suspect it wouldn't be long before he got an updated version out. But if you want to, go ahead that's fine?

Interesting. Unfortunately I'm not able to test anything on Linux so I have to rely on feedback. There is a dev forum but it's not very active so I'd check the main EVE thread if you haven't already. If you have, go ahead and post something to rbray so he knows it's happening with his latest dev version, he'll be able to look into way better than I'd be able to. Sorry about that :(

In case you are interested, I figured out what was breaking EVEManager.  Installing Kerbal Plus Remade by KillAshley  causes the version of EVE included with SVE to break.

Just thought you might want to know. I'll  post the error in that thread also.

Interesting... Did an earlier/later version of EVE fix the issue or are you still getting it.

Kplus reloaded works fine with the version of eve from CKAN. It's only with the version included with SVE that things break. I didn't try any other versions since I normally try not to use dev versions of mods unless they make significant improvements and fixes over release versions (etc mechjeb).

Gotcha. Well hopefully rbray will get back to working on EVE soon so I can continue working on this!

Hi hawks,

Thank you for a glorious mod!

I really hope i haven't missed anything in this thread, but i have this problem here:

5uWRu4M.png

I run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with the latest Nvidia drivers and SVE Ultra settings. I've done a clean modded install, an install with only SVE and still the same problem.

Hope I’m not the only one.

I appreciate any and all help i can get, thanks in advance.

Hi! You are actually not the only one. However, this bug is caused from Scatterer in OpenGL (I think its because of OpenGL). Blackrack knows about it and he said he is working on finding out what causes this for some people. Unless it goes away on it's own the only way I can see you getting rid of the issue is by disabling the Scatterer oceans and reverting back to stock oceans :(

No way am I going back to stock ocean! This whole mod makes KSP feel real.

I've noticed, it comes and goes with scene change, so I don't mind it all that much. Glad to hear your on top of it, thanks.

Yeah I figured you wouldn't want to :sticktongue:
