Kerbals need holidays too, so I'm building them a cruise ship. The aim is to be able to pack a load of Kerbals onto one ship, current iteration has 8 empty crewable pods which can each take 3 Kerbals; 24 passengers + 3 crew.

EDIT -

images have got lost, will upload again after work -

that is amazing!

try using ulage boosters for pod separation

katateochi, I love the way that in this game, something can be pointless, ridiculous, and awesome, all at the same time.

Didn't you have to take all the original Kerbals out of that ship, so you could film yourself putting a bunch of Kerbals into the ship, so that you could eject a bunch of Kerbals from the ship?

Thanks!! might try different boosters. want to try and cram a landing leg or 2/3 in there also!

Not quite, I first launched two ground-crew craft with 3kerbs per craft and moved them to one side. Then I launched the ship, so now its on the pad with its crew. The passenger pods are all empty to start with. Then loaded a simple 3kerb bus from the hangar and drove over (by chance it was THE three kerbs). Those three plus 1 from the first ground-crew craft boarded the lower deck. The other ground-crew craft (just loaded to bring more kerbs) drives up and they all get out (last one takes handbrake off so it rolls away) and they board top deck joined by another 1 from the first ground-crew. That was 8 loaded and 1 still in the lift to move it away.

For the first proper launch I aim to load 24, so I'm working on (and having issues with) a large bus!

The images I'd uploaded before got wiped so I've now put them on imgur;

Normally the boarding gantry is dropped seconds after launch, but I need to gain some altitude to teach this stow-away a lesson.

EDIT

I forgot to say something; this experiment proves something. Squad did a damn good job with the EVA work. I've got those movement extender/ladder things at all kinda odd angles, not aligned and I bring another set in from a nearby craft and they can crawl between them perfectly, not even a glitch as they cross over. Really good job!! :)

Since doing the Mun-Minmus thing, I've concentrated my efforts to getting a heavy lander into orbit for a Mun-Min-Mun mission. The LCM3 is quite possibly the most robust lander I've managed to design and can usually keep everybody alive short of instant vaporization :o

-Sticks the landing! :D

lander1.jpg

-Final descent. As along as we can dump enough fuel to keep our drop under 12m/s, it's all good.

lander3.jpg

-Emergency drop pod w/4 more independent chutes... Just in case Jeb is at the helm.

lander2.jpg

-Independent landing ability. Command module and lander stage will easily survive touchdown independent of control (over land).

Lander4.jpg

-Disaster survival. We didn't need those two tanks, landing strut, parachute #3 or any of the four boosters that decided to part company during orbital ascent ^__^

My experimental spaceplane broke apart on landing. Or so I thought until the smoke cleared, when I saw that the body of the plane was flying away after dumping the cockpit and some other parts. Having divested itself of that bothersome flight crew, it flew steadily and landed itself gently and upright a third of a kilometer away:

That's the capsule in the distance.

Here's a nice action shot of my newest Long-Range scout plane, the Aigis 12.

Fun fact about this plane, I came up with the name before I began designing it. I liked the name, so I wanted to make sure whatever I gave the name to was perfect and would be reliable. This thing went all the way to the edge of the northern ice cap. I think it deserves the name.

EDIT: Oh, and in case anyone asks (Which I doubt since it's not that impressive of a plane anyway), no I won't be putting the file up. This plane is mine. :D

So, in my latest test flights i've added an anti gravity module from the mod available in the mod forum. My aircraft crumples on the runway, which normally is a disaster. With this device on, the plane crumples and the anti grav device sails off into the sky. Another time i was testing one of my safety feature aircraft (detachable cockpit with parachute and parachute on the main body of the aircraft) Things start going wacky so i eject the cockpit. The aircraft only goes and damn well stabilises itself and flies on its merry way.

Sadly, i didn't have time to get a picture.

First entirely successful munar landing! (i.e. without having the lander tipping over upon touchdown). Here's an illustrated report:

The new Thorondor II lander touched down 50km south of the stranded Kerbstantin Tsiolkovsky mission. A possible meetup of both crews is being studied

Dunsel Kerman got out the capsule first, followed by his crewmates for this mission, Dudlin and Wilsy Kerman.

I'm kinda ashamed of this, the result of a really bad day at work yesterday. I think I might have crossed some kind of a line.....

Jeb's Trebuchet - range 363.4m

physics is fun thou! I might put a vid up if this doesn't get too negative a response!

(Jeb has never been fired with it, just didn't have the heart)
