I'd say this: "The Crane has lifted."

You know, if you attached the small rigid wheeled landing gear to the back of it's "knees", you could have it land on those and then pivit up onto it's feet again once it's slowed down enough. Should be doable.

This is indeed hilariously awesome. How does it move initially though? The legs seem to not provide any forward thrust. Is it simply leaning forward?

It lifts the legs and strides forward. I have the length of stride linked to the value of the throttle, so that max speed is at full throttle and at zero it walks in place.

Now you just need AI's so they can breed and populate your world and fly around in flocks etc. And being that it's ostrich like, it should have the potential to become agressive and try to kick or peck you to death. There no such thing as a runway without potential bird hazards!!

AI:

Auto spawn 1+ birds. Birds move around sometimes together in flocks. They check their fuel and when needed fly back to KSC to repawn or get themselves collected and spawn again from where they are and begin again... Apply random logic to make them do various things in a list or something.

I bet you could use an out of KSP program to run the mouse and keyboard or other things to make it act like this and populate a world a bit like how Spore does and control them to some extent. then you just need a way to control alot of them together. Maybe an abuse of mutliplayer when it comes out. 8) Can you do under the hood stuff with KSP easily? Access thing like in a High level language and call things in quick succession with batch files or something?
