Dres Awareness, Show Your Support! (still not-dead :))

Recommended Posts

Starting my Dres appreciation mission.  4 ion shuttles, one MASSIVE space station, a Dresteroid miner, a Dres lander/miner just so far.  Waiting for that elusive window, but everyone has 6K dV, so should be easy peasy. Here are the 2 miners:

On their way:

Well now the most unfortunate thing occurred to me: the landers were short on fuel. I decided not to go ahead with the lander probes since their landing stage would have to do the insertion burn at Dres, and would therefore would not be able to land with a good fuel margin.

Jeb, Bill, Bob and Valentina are next and I'm hoping I don't have to wait for the next launch window after the probes get to Dres. This is really a big mission.

As such, it would be nice if you made a Mission Report thread. Good luck on the Dres missions, and....

I have one thing to say...

We choose to go to the unloved space potato! We choose to go to the unloved space potato in this year and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because we will LOVE DRES; because that goal will serve to give Dres recognition and measure the best of our Dres rockets and love, because that challenge is one that we will accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we will win...
            FOR DRES!!!

Last Dres mission of 1.05, got everything there in one piece.  We have a giant space station with 128 seats and 40 Kerbals, 2 ion shuttles orbiting, a miner/lander with 2 more shuttles, a Dresteroid miner, and a science team with a lab orbiting and a lander with 6K dV, enough to hoover up all the Dres science.

Mission status:

Dres 1 in orbit

Dres 2 in orbit

Dres 3 and 4 cancelled

Dres 5 and 6 in orbit

CTV 1 in orbit

CTV 2 stand by for launch.

yes, I know I need pics, so I think I will save those for the last launch because otherwise it will be really boring with all the launches.

I want to cry, and so does Dres.  My save file for Dres awareness got deleted. :(  Now, I need to start from scratch, because I have no screenshots of what I did.

It's alright, we all need to...

Just a question: what's the heaviest thing you've ever launched? If you give the weight, pad weight please. I'm just wondering if I

  1. could have a more effective rocket.
  2. Am over doing it.

mine weighs about 5500 tons. I only just learned docking that's why it's so heavy. And it's t/w ratio at launch is about 1.4 I think. I know am crazy, but I'm wondering because my Dres base is going to be really hard to launch in multiple pieces and dock, then burn. And multiple burns is really annoying.

Uh... I just googled it, and it gives me good explosive ideas... But what if I actually want to get something to orbit?

Try the SpaceY mod for stuff that size. Gets part count down a lot

Multiple burns is what I did.

And BTW, most of my rockets are over 2 Mt

OMG!!! How does that fly?!? I've decided on a flotilla because it's just cargo in stock ksp. A cycler is good for when you have life support mods, and a mothership is really lag, wobbly, and has tons of annoying docking.

I'm talking about the launcher. My attempt was 500t on the pad, but still impressive by KJR standards.

Drescomm 1 and 2 launched today. There going to Dres tomorrow and if the work, 12 satellites orbiting Dres! They are ready to go, plus Drescomm 1 has a survey scanner and Drescomm 2 an orbital scanner.

Yes. And it's a really bad window right now. But I think TO MOHO WITH BAD TRANSFER WINDOWS! Maybe I will send them to Dres after the class E gets really close. Then send them away, and try and aerobrake the class E? But yes.

For science! For Dres! For not getting hit with a class E! For staying determined!

Well a chance thing happened just then with a class E... An untracked one came into physics range and hit my ship :( It was funny...

Didn't even know that was possible!  Did you get any pics?
