Best Soviet/Russian mod for KSP.

I find that many space enthusiasts are particularly interested in Soviet/Russian equipment. I think it's partly because it was shrouded in mystery for so long, and partly because in a number of cases, the engineers made different design decisions than NASA's did-- so it's sort of an "alternate universe" in a way!

Absolutely. That, and the Russians were first at just about everything until the USA really got into gear. (Can't remember and can't be bothered to look it up. Was docking in space the first US 'first', the point where they overtook the USSR?)

The first NASA first was rendezvousing with Gemini 7/6A in 1965 (the Soviets had done some "formation flights," but not truly rendezvoused, and they wouldn't until Soyuz 3 in 1968), or flying past another planet with a working spacecraft if you're willing to count robots (Mariner 2 in 1962). Gemini 7 set a duration record that would stand until 1970, too.

Which dysfunctional Soviet spacecraft went past another planet before that?
