My Space Station requires 2 pilots??? Cool!!!!

OK, this is new, and I have to say, long overdue. I just got contracts to put a station over Kerbin and the Mun, and both require 2 pilots!
OK, that seems reasonable enough to me. In fact, I'm not sure why Squad didn't do it before.

But this really begs the question.... is there now also the possibility of a contextual contract to add more personnel???

IMO... I hope so!!! Stations should have a crew.

Opinions???

That's awesome :)

Does it say how long they have to stay there for? Presumably just long enough to complete the contract. Some of my fave contracts are from D-Magic's Orbital Science mod, and require you to stay in orbit around a particular body for a specified length of time

They do. According to contracts.cfg - it's more likely to ask for a scientist if you have a research lab, and more likely to ask for an engineer if you have ISRU. Pilots just need command modules (so pretty much anything).

Agreed! But again, could I get a contract offer down the road that requires say, 4000 more units of fuel, plus a scientist and an engineer... or something to that effect???

Would be an interesting way to develop your space station as and when contracts come up. Start out with a basic 'put a station in orbit' contract, then when you get a 'we have new plans for KerbStation One...' you might add some fuel storage or a science lab or whatever.

I already plan on doing it this way, if feasible. That's why I hope adding more personnel is part of the new contracts.

Yup - when I was testing these for KSS, I got several missions asking me to add fuel. (I don't think you'll get one that says "add more fuel, and a scientist" at the same time though).

This objective is indeed new. For new facilities it can appear in general, and in contextual facility upgrades, it will look at the composition of the vessel to see what crew it thinks the vessel might need. This is based on the crew capacity, and the presence of things like labs, ISRU, or command modules. It will only ask for personnel that are easily transferable to the facility, either by being assigned on a mission on the same planet as the facility, or by idling in KSC.

It can even ask for tourist visitations to existing stations on contextuals, if there are active or offered tourism contracts with itineraries that pass through that planet.

Arsonide, is it possible to have some more reasonable tourists contract ?

I usually get some which want to land on Eve then go to Vall and do a Duma flyby. And other tourists on the same contract want to go elsewhere. This is quite boring. It's more like a TOUR mission (which are much fun and RP)

Tourists contract should be : bring N tourists to XXX planetary body and do some flyby.landing on its moons. N could be big so we would have ot create some "bus" vehicles.

The easier tourism contracts are basically this, they choose a single planet. The medium difficulty ones will choose a planet and any orbiting bodies, and the hard ones can be all over the place. Tourists cannot EVA, just transfer, so this creates a need to "sort" them by destination if you are planning on doing any large scale tourism...incidentally giving a bit of purpose to sorting "waystations" the player might have.

As far as reasonable requests go, the tourists no longer ask to go anywhere that your crew members have not been on manned missions, and they no longer ask for suborbital trips anywhere at all except on Kerbin, which knocks out many of the more outlandish requests they had before. It's meant to be a light activity that is layered on top of other missions for maximum effect, even if those other missions are more tourism contracts. This leaves it accessible in the early game and the late game. I think it is in a good place at the moment.

still laughing over the reported suborbital hop on the sun. (suicidal Kerbals?)

But is there a contextual contract to bring a tourist to your space station and transfer them there? Because that would be really cool.

I love the idea of taking tourists up to orbital hotels. Still kinda sad that they're not allowed to go on spacewalks.

Tourists can gain experience from flights, right? It'd be great if they could gain levels and gain permission to do more advanced stuff, like EVA, or take the wheel and drive a rover or spaceship for a little while, or whatever.
