F1rst Snow!

The Netherlands hasn't seen a real winter in several years. It rarely snows and when more than three flakes fall traffic grinds to a halt in a matter of minutes.

Edit: Just read on a Dutch news site (http://nos.nl/artikel/2070678-winters-weer-in-nederland.html) we actually did have some snow today. And several cars slid of the road and hit a tree or ended up in a ditch. :sealed: Edited by Tex_NL

The last time we got an amount of snow in that was worth anything was in 2009. It doesn't snow very much down in south Alabama, but it does get pretty cold. Of course, 20 degrees Fahrenheit may seem cold to me, but is probably summer weather for Canadians.

Alabama's climate is known for its hellish summers.

Don't underestimate them, I've been thru several hurricanes, and they can get really wild. Lucky for us Florida is mostly flat, so they usually pass quickly, only a day or two.... usually.... and we don't get the mudslides. But if one stalls it's a whole different ballgame. There's no-where for the water to go, and then people get flooded out fast.

But I've also seen what your typhoons can do... and some do look much worse. The Pacific is much bigger for a storm to form and build up than the Atlantic.
I may be spoiled from living down here, but I'll take 6" of snow over a hurricane or typhoon any day!!! lol

Oh yeah.... the month of rain. I have a rescue cat named Waldo we think came from a family that got flooded out a couple blocks over back then. The whole street got nailed really bad, and a few houses had to be condemed. Not sure, he just showed up and wanted to come in... and never left. Very, very cool cat... definitely an inside cat. I feel bad for whoever lost him, but he totally adopted me and is sitting next to me as I type this.

Snow in Germany.... I was stationed in Crailsheim in the 80's.
Not sure if it's actually in Bavaria, or just really close, but remember how beautiful everything looked when it snowed!
