Anything water related.

So I was thinking about Ksp water and I want to understand water more than anything. So submit your water designs(including but not limited to boats subs and seaplanes) and I will test them out nothing insane at this point cause my pc can only handle 500- parts(I'll have a new pc right after Christmas cause I'm building one). If water is understood then better craft can be built.

On another thread we're doing R&D at the moment about extendable parts like antennas and solar panels. It turns out that when you extend a gigantor or anything else, the mass stays the same, but the volume changes. In effect the solar array or whatever it is gets a lot less dense.

We're experimenting with s00bmarines right now, but it could be extended to boats and hydroplanes.

I have 3 boats currently.

can be downloaded here.

and here.

and lastly, here.

I've been working on sea planes but i haven't been satisfied so far with the way they sit in the water. currently, It depends on how much air is in a part to determine its buoyancy. so the structural fuselages and cargo bays seem to have the best buoyancy from what I can tell. I'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

  • 3 weeks later...

Very simple prototypes that worked for me:

The Subnautika Rover:

A random kopter after a tricky landing. The KAX rotor functions as a propeller. ^_^

First speedboat, can do 30 m/s on water..

..and it can fly if really needed or the pilot doesn't pays attention...

..and it can turn into a sub with mininmal adjustments. Yes, air intakes work underwater.

BTW... VesselPlacer mod feels like a must for boating. Geting them to water is a pain without that. From there, the rest is just fun testing.

I have this passenger hydrofoil. It can carry 22 kerbals including crew, and tops out at around 80 m/s, making it usefull for transporting kerbals to and from the islands or rescue returning spacecraft overshooting the KSC.
